I solo'd it as a Taru Monk with a regen drink and Hundred Fists.
I might just do that this time, because, let's face it - finding folks who are both willing to help, and who have level appropriate gear on them is kind of a crapshoot.
And I know it's silly, but I refuse to level past 25 as a Rank 2.
Maybe bring a Blue Mage with Diamondhide to buff you, and a WHM or RDM to cast a solid Protect and Shell that will last a few minutes (Protect III, Shell III? I doubt Protect IV or Shell IV will last very long at level 25).
Buffs applied outside the BC wear off when you enter it, so you wouldn't get away with more than Protect and Shell I.
Ellipses on Fenrir There is no rush. If you're not willing to take your time, don't be surprised when no one wants to give you much of theirs.

Damn Seyonne is good, but yes it looks like he was lucky a few times. I had figured that your best bet would be to do what he did, kill the spotter quickly. He doesnt seem to last very long. Then just outlast the dragon. But yes deffinently hi-pots are a good thing I would like to try it. I think it would be a cool way to get rank 3 plus it looks fun. Thanks for all this imput guys. Im actually kinda wondering about blu sub. With abilities like sandspin, sprout smack, wild oats and head butt, and foot kick as a trigger, could you get a slight advantage? Obviously you'd want more yag drinks and most likely a few hi-ethers, but could it work?

Reason: Stupidity
I haven't watched any of the videos or anything, so I don't know how long this battle would last solo. But the first thought that occurs to me with using Spirit Surge when trying to solo anything is that it means you don't get Healing Breath until it wears off. That's assuming you make sure your Cal Wyvern timer is ready before the fight. You could make up for it with Hi-Potions in the meantime, I suppose, but then it's not that different from soloing this fight as any other melee.

Actually - they stay on in your mission/rank BCNM (or have every time unless SE just recently changed it) - they only dont follow in when you are doing a seals BCNM.
But, each time I have done it on a mage job much higher (before the recent updates) all my buffs, including Protect IV stayed. They seemed to have differentiated the mission BCNMs from the seals ones in what they will allow to go in with you.

Son of a... Guess that's what I get for taking my LS' word for it when they said not to buff up beforehand.

Well, it was before the updates.. guess I need to try it again to make sure... lol
But, as far as soloing the dragon, it would be a fun challenge on DRG - Sey is excellent and when she goes into a fight like that she seems to definitely have a strategy:
Kill the eye first: he is annoying and definitely less defense than the dragon. This guy likes to cast magic, so once he is gone you simply have some of the dragon's abilities to deal with. Being a DRG you wont have as much def gear available, so - would be a toss up between def and attack food - with Au Laits and potions.. go for the attack food and sub a non mage job. Maybe even mnk for the extra HP it would provide you. (mind you I am NOT talking as a exp sub, but simply for this battle and trying to think what would aid you).. boost will help your weapon skills, and unlike bezerk you wont lose defense to it.
The Dragon: Make sure you have your Aulaits and Hipotions ready. Probably a Holy Water incase of curse (I hate it when he does that).. once he gets low enough then 2 hour to allow yourself tp and the wyvern's ability to ignore defense. Just macro in what you need as far as hipots.
Nothing wrong with using meds and foods to help out - that was the reason they were put there.
Go in and solo the spotter, you will level after the fight and be fully healed, then bust out hundred fists on the dragon. You will need Potions, aulait, and the such.
Trust me. It always works as long as you don't get cursed.
If you use Spirit Surge you can always cancel it if you want to bring your wyvern back out. Sey is pretty out there in terms of soloing. Don't forget about her soloing Sea Horror and Shadow Lord.

I think she or someone else was working on soloing some of the prime avatars too.
As far as Spirit Surge, the TP+HP boost you'd get would make it very useful if used at the right time. There's a reason DRGs are beating Maat in less then a minute and a half after it got added.
I tried soloing the Rank 3 fight but went in very poorly prepared. The key is to take the eye out quickly so you only have the dragon on you.
Hmmm...then maybe the 2hr could help. Your healing wont kick in till your hp is low anyway. So come in, use an icarus wing, etc. Then run up to spotter and 2hour. Beat the snot out of him until your hp hits 50% then turn it off and get ur wyvern back out to continue the fight using healing breaths. Of course You would need a bunch of hi-potions and yag drinks and perhaps some hi-ethers too and of course a couple of holy waters. I also like the idea to come in close to leveling to full heal halfway through that would be great.
