Re: Is dragoon a hard job
DRG can be a lotta fun, and do pretty good damage. When I'm stressed out from other jobs, or just need a break, I usually level DRG. You can solo decently with WHM sub, and at some stages you can get a lot of invites, but then in the 40's, as I hear, invites can be far and few between. I'm only Lv.27, but at that level I do pretty good damage with or with out my Wyvern, and I have a static, so I can't speak on the state of invites. But when I level other jobs that level, I generally look for DRGs. DRGs and THFs for Double Thrust > Fast Blade for a good Distortion. DRG is basically 1.5 DDs for the party.
Later levels when building parties, I look for jobs I can skillchain with. With my WAR50 I usually look for a DRK or a DRG to skillchain with. For SAM35 I look for a THF usually, but a DRG would work nicely as well. This is usually the norm when building parties. Who can your DD skillchain with so you can drop a big Magic Burst on.

Re: Is dragoon a hard job
Is it a hard job? Well, that depends on how you look at it.
You don't have too many abilities to worry about (no ranged attacks), so you'll mostly be auto-attacking, jumping for extra damage, or later on jumping to clear hate. If you sub WAR you'll often be called on to act as a trick partner with the THF and the tank, so you'll need to know how to position yourself correctly and when to provoke. You'll also need to know how to use your two hour to the greatest benefit of the party.
If you sub THF later on, you'll need to understand how to use Sneak Attack or Sneak Attack and Trick Attack to the greatest benefit. Parties will expect you to know your abilities and how to use them to their fullest.
Invites can be pretty slow for DRG, especially if you only want to level in parties, and choose to only sub melee jobs. However the great thing about DRG is that you can solo with several non-melee subs provided you target the right mobs and you learn how to use the benefits that your sub job gives you.
If you're subbing a job that gives your Wyvern healing breath and status removal breath, you'll need to know when to cast a spell to get the maximum benefit, and you'll need to get really used to running around with low health. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but in my opinion it can be a very rewarding playstyle.
All in all it's a really great job, but it has an upward battle to fight in regard to how your fellow gamers view the job. If you're willing to take the time to make the most of the job then you'll have a great time. But if you just want to sub WAR and sit around waiting for party invites, you might get frustrated with it eventually.

Re: Is dragoon a hard job
Call Wyvern is no longer Dragoon's 2-hour. It's on a 20-minute timer instead, and Spirit Surge is the 2-hour ability. But you still can't use Call Wyvern unless Dragoon is your main job.Ellipses on Fenrir
There is no rush. If you're not willing to take your time, don't be surprised when no one wants to give you much of theirs.
