I remain dubious. I mean, no personal offense intended, but if something like this were really a factor in weaponskills and elemental magic, it would have been figured out a long time ago. I sincerely doubt that the direction you faced when you were parsing had anything to do with what kind of damage you did.
I've parsed all my fights and whenever I'm able to move around and face the right direction to use a WeaponSkill, it definitely does more damage.
Do you have a list by any chance? I'd love to test this out myself. I always buy into the superstitions of facing a certain direction while crafting, sometimes I feel like it's making a difference, sometimes I don't.
To me it's not even a matter of whether it increases the damage or not. Given a static party, or doing a BCNM or mission or something, maybe it's practical. But in a most pick-up XP parties there are too many other things to worry about. SATA, links, cone AOE moves, possibly more than one skillchain, cramped quarters, etc. If there's a situation where you can always get to the East of the mob, great. No harm in doing so, even if it doesn't increase damage. But if someone's trying to prioritize that over WS timing or cone AOE or SATA, screw that. And if the BLM is paying more attention to spinning around than the hate line or back-up cures or MBs, screw that too.
So yes, a DRG using sushi and ATT gear is just as bad as a BLM that doesn't spin around in circles while casting: really not all that bad.
Ellipses on Fenrir There is no rush. If you're not willing to take your time, don't be surprised when no one wants to give you much of theirs.

. . .
Exactly, Ellipses. I'm glad someone said that. There are bigger priorities when in an exp party. You want to experiment? Do it with friends. Not in a pickup party, thanks. Just do your job, and we'll be good to go.
Well, to be fair, most of us are talking to each other, and explaining why we disagree. It's not like we're just randomly slinging insults or trolling ourselves. Someone who doesn't know much about the game, or about DRG might get some useful info out of the discussion that comes from this.
Aye, and around the middle of the thread there was some really insightful, if heated discussion about the dragoon job, but this spinning around in circles talk is way off topic and of questionable basis in the first place.

its untrue to be honest, I really dont think it exsists, show me a video where you can prove it over like 10 fights...then maybe I might start to belive :p but really this direction theary is realy stupid :p its nice for crafting but for fighting?......no
