LOL I wanted to comment on that and forgot. I haven't seen a breath paralyzed either. What I have seen is a wyvern power up a breath but not use it due to sleep.

Re: The TRUE Power of Dragoons - share your stories.

Yep, I lost many breaths after fights.

As for being paralyze, the only thing to test this theory out is to, as Lilith said, go ballista and have a DRG/SAM with Opo Opo Necklace fight a RDM. RDM casts sleep, (free TP) and the DRG meditate. Then RDM paralyzes the DRG. DRG uses Leg Sweep (weak but for testing purposes ...). Keep it up again and again. Once paralyze kicks in, screenshot it (the log), post it here, case closed.

      It should look like:

      John readies Penta Thrust.
      John is paralyzed.
John hits Liz for 28 damage. (normal melee swing)

      and NOT:

      John readies Penta Thrust.
John uses Penta Thrust, Liz takes 300 damage.
John is paralyzed. (normal melee swing)

As for the quickness of the cure, that should be pretty easy to test. Does the icon disappear before the weapon skill begins? I've never seen a breath occur before the event that triggers it, nor have I seen cast time bypassed, nor is there any equipment to give your wyvern fast cast (of which 100% fast cast doesn't exist). So mathematically, I'm going to have to say no. But just to be safe, I'll go do my own tests.
The paralyze icon typically gets removed after I finish doing my Penta Thrust. Never instant.

Re: The TRUE Power of Dragoons - share your stories.

        {Hello!} {Nice to meet you.} ^^

I'm at 44 at the moment, went from 1000 into 42 to 3800 untill 45 yesterday. Awesome party for most of it, Drg, Thf, Pld, Brd, Blu, Whm, clocked 12000xp I think in 2 hours in Eastern Altepa Desert on Beetles.

Anyway, Seeing a Dragoon success story thread I couldn't help but reply with one of my moments =D

So I was at 28 in Yhoater Jungle, stabbing mandys with a pretty good party. We were Whm, Drg, Sam, Nin, Pld and ### (I can't remember the 6th).

Anyway the 6th member has to go, fair enough, so it's just the whm, drg, sam, nin and pld.
The Whm is out of mp, but accidentally hits a wrong macro and aggros a White Lizard. The rest of us attack it whilst the whm runs away >.> (no cure spells... at all...)
But yeah, finally at 50% health, the nin and the pld go down. just me and the sam left. I didn't have much TP at this time and am about 50% health. Wyvern is 100% ish.
Spirit Surge, Jump, Double Thrust (Platoon lance), and a couple of attacks from me and the sam and it's at about 5% HP, we're both at full health, and it hates me so much the sam is pretty safe :p. Finally kirred it with me at 44HP ^^

        I love this job hehe.

Re: The TRUE Power of Dragoons - share your stories.

havent read through all this cus its 3am and all, but like the theard starts whit, its aoften the player and not the job that dont work out. And its true i bellive. And my experience is that playing DRG you always get a different kind off job to do deepending off party set up. If there is a thf you most likely be sata partner and skillchain partner, if nin and no thf, your job changes a bit, same at if there is a thf and a nin, or if there is a thf and a pally, you guys whit me so far?
Point is, i bellive, that for the true power off the job to show, the whole party need to work good togheter. Every job need to help yhe other jobs so they get best possibility to do good. im not sure if i get this out right, but my point is its importent not to run a one man show to show yourself off, somethime you need to bring the best out off other, or make it possible for them to make the best out off the situation.

i mean like, a pally voke every 30 sec, cus a pally always seppose to have the hate. To be aa awsome pally he need to do that right? (this a bad example to late^^) though if thf not sata on drg but on pally, and i preffer that cus well im a drg i dont like to be meat sheild^^. Well then pally need to hold on till the sc is done then he can continue. That was a so bad example but im really tyerd^^ anyway bottom line, if all work togheter insted off being liek "Dg.... lol" to start whit i know drg can amaze alot off people
Keep on rocking in the free world!
In the end your alway alone!
So far... So good... So what!?

I'm not on Ifrit, and I've not partied for a good 9-10 months now.

There might be someone with the same name though. As far as I know, it's only unique to the server. The same name can be used across multiple servers.

School is really gonna slow my journey to level 30. =(

Re: The TRUE Power of Dragoons - share your stories.

Slow? I don't believe it. At 20 when you get Healing Breath II, you can pick up soloing and go quite fast to 30. Spread it out a bit and take it easy, and make use of that empress band. Solo for 60-80 minutes should you get you 3000 exp. Do it for 2 days odd and level up (I think it was 6100 exp to 33). If you plan to go seek, worst case scenario:

                    1 hour.
                    Set up party. 30 minutes.
                    Get to camp. 30 minutes.
                    Actually start EXPing.
                    20 mins later
PLD > "OMG I NEED TO GOES TO DO MY LAUNDRY" (disband + logoff)
You all sit there for 1 hour looking for tank.
Replacement found. Dies on the way. He logs off.
Other people leave. More get replaced.
                    Random aggro kills you.

                    Or solo:
                    1. you -might- die, if you're not used to soloing.
                    2. You keep all your seals. You start right away. You get all the items.
                    3. No waiting. Buy your food, get some juice, go for it.
                    4. Get rhythmn down, go solo solo solo.

I think rather than grinding (if you get a good party, fair enough) 5 levels a night (or over 3 nights) best to do some soloing. You'll be underskilled when you go back to partying, but you'll gradually pick it back up. Trust me, I wouldn't have gotten to 75 otherwise.

Not really too impressive but I was in the dunes with a bunch of Elvaan and Hume melee (we had a PL) and I just found it hilarious that none of them could pull the pugils off me, the little taru DRG/WAR... LOL

                      Also, the rest of the party was level 18-19 and I was level 17 >.<;

I have had a similar experience. While partying in Qufim Island, a PLD, MNK, and 2 WAR couldn't keep the hate off me. I was out damaging them the whole time. Occasionally Eisenzahn would even get the most hate. Since then I have decided to forget about parties and now I static duo with my RL wife. Thats the true power of DRG, the ability to skip XP parties, which are a huge waste of time more often then not.

Well, I am going to wait to solo until I hit level 20 when wyvern gets heal breath II. Although I still solo on ep's while waiting on pt invites.

Here's a parse from a L71-72 PT in Caedarva Mire.

                            http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/5759/parsezs6.jpg

                            Keider: DRG/WAR
                            Rocky: Keider's Wyvern
                            Kor: RNG/NIN
                            Maju: PLD/WAR
                            Kugata: BLM/WHM

Notice how Keider and his wyvern completely dominated the parse. It's slightly biased, though, since Kor was using War Bow +1 with Scorpion Arrows, which is a horribly outdated combo at that level. Otherwise his gear was in good shape. The BLM also clearly did not nuke enough. Keider was pretty much fully pimped but DRG can't wear as good DD gear as most other melees.

I am a Lvl 34 DRG/SAM Galka and my power is not matched by any of my other jobs, Being a dragoon is like always having a 2 person party! If you had a party of 6 dragoons, It would practically be a mini aliance. And with whit mage sub jobs, the wyverns could do all the healing. As far as I'm concerned, DRG is the greatest job out there!
Also at level 34, you get a special DRG weapon(lance) that has DMG51 from the previous weapon at lvl 32 of DMG36.
Night and day is all i have to say!
