Re: The TRUE Power of Dragoons - share your stories.

Well, yesterday, I had my very first TP Burn VS Lesser Colibri in Wajoam Woodlands, at level 55.
The setup was: DRG DRK WAR NIN BLM WHM~ it was great! I did pretty good. I was the lowest level in the party, and heres what happened:
In the beggining, we camped near Fomor. One of the Fomors aggroed me and killed me ; ; Then the Colibri finished all of us off. At this point, that setup was DRK DRG WAR BLM BLM WHM. After we all got raised, one of the BLMs DC'd, so we got a NIN. From what I hear, Quetzalcoatl's the only server who didn't loose during Besieged yet. So anyway, before the NIN came, we took a little break and did Besieged. Then, we camped right outside Al Zahbi, and I started doing, pretty good.200-500 criticles, 70-120 normal hits, 160-300 Jump, 60-100 High Jump, 90-500 Penta Thrust. Then, our DRK died, so we took a small break, again. During the next break, the BLM fell asleep =/ So we had to get a new one.

    Then we started again, and camped at the Leypoint. From there, I did amazing. 400-600 Pentas, 80-140 Normals, 200+ Criticles, 150-200 Jumps, 100-150 High Jumps. I even held the strongest WS in party record for 778 Penta Thrust =D The DRK and the WAR were doing really good, too. The DRK kept stealing hate and dieing X_X They need something like Super Jump lol. The NIN couldn't use Food because of Snatch Morsal ; ;
But anyways, it was a great party.

It's good to see young Dragoons loving thier job, i've been a drg for as long as NA opening and i was one of the beta people too, spazz can back me up on that . First whatever Brakki say is pure gibberish second endgame isnt everything. What most people dont take into account is the wyvern fact is the wyvern is our job attacks like a sword has the subtle blow effect and ignores def.(excluding stoneskin of coruse).

There will always be haters but ignore them and contiune your quest to 75. With ToAU now and TP burn party vs Puks its only happy days for DRGs.

Re: The TRUE Power of Dragoons - share your stories.

Hello there fellow dragoons. I recently have made the switch from wanna be melee RDM to DRG. Up to tonight I never had much of a story, and this one in itself may or may not be a big deal.

We were in CN killing rumbles and helm beetles at about level 49-50. The setup was NIN DRG THF BRD WHM RDM. So the THF pulls a rumble and I proceed to provoke it. We both have TP so we start our skillchain(the standard Double Thrust -> Viper Bite). Well on rumbles I was normally hitting my DT's in the 200s, and had maybe one or two 300s at this point(I had just leveled a few fights ago). Anyway heres how it went, "Tsulaa uses Double Thrust. The Rumbling Crawler takes 524 points of damage." Few seconds later "THF(forget the name) uses Viper Bite. The Rumbling Crawler takes 499 points of damage."

I had to double check on that one, I mean I actually beat a SATA VB's damage with the first weaponskill I ever got as a DRG. Must be a fluke right? Next mob comes we skillchain again

"Tsulaa uses Double Thrust. The Rumbling Crawler takes 499 points of damage." Then "THF uses Viper Bite. The Rumbling Crawler takes 440 points of damage."

Again I beat him out. Now normally it wouldnt be a big deal that I was outdamaging a WS, except for the fact that THFs only noticable damage comes from SATA VB at this level. The fact that I can beat that with just a normal weaponskill has to say something. To make matters worse, multiple times throughout the night I would Penta Thrust between our WS and catch him again before he broke 130% TP, and that means at times before he even broke 100% TP I would break 100%.

Yeah ok, maybe hes a shitty THF, you know along with every other THF since they all fail to keep up with my TP. And it isnt limited to THFs, it extends into WARs and all but one DRK too that I have PTed with since 37. Oh and by the way, I dont eat sushi and some of the people I have out TPed do.

My DRG is 5... don't get me wrong, I love the job, but if the invites were a tad bit better, I would be playing as one. I love the entire concept of DRG.

No, I do not have a life.

Old topic, but seeing how there's 2 new replies from yesterday, true power of DRG?

I soloed to 75 from 1. I only have time to play a little a day and BST didn't appeal to me, so DRG it was. See sig for more info.

            Oh and hi Tsulaa!!!!

Thought your name was very familiar ...

Re: The TRUE Power of Dragoons - share your stories.

Just thought I'd post this here even though I'm not a DRG.

                Hi, I'm a 56 PLD, soon to be 60. ^.^ And I'll admit, I love DRGs.

I was leveling with a friend of mine just yesterday and was searching for members when I stumbled across a DRG. This is actually kind of rare for me to find a DRG seeking a party, but I love to invite them 'cause I feel like I get a raw deal. So, we get to the Boyhada Tree and we had to have the DRG pull 'cause I forgot the invite a puller. ((Was kind of in a rush to wear my Gallant Coronet)). But this DRG was awesome, he was dealing out some major Damage, but still didn't pull hate offa me.

But what I learned from him was that DRGs are mainly for hate management, which was comletly right. This is great for me in particular becuase I tend to loose hate when we have a fast puller and don't have enough MP to keep it. So, apparently, when I loose hate the DRG can just get in between the mob and the one being attacked >>> Super Jump and bam, one flash or voke later I have hate again. Awesome. ~.^ b

Anyways, just to let you know and GOOD DRG will always have my invite. ((I won't stand for stupidity no matter what job you are. I.e Know your job, etc.))
"Oh, you ca'n't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're Mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be", said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

Welcome to Alice in FFXI =P

                  *A bit off topic sorry*

Though i didn't play this (but planning to play in some other day), I feel kinda happy for those of you who use DRG and is great to see all the bad myths about DRG is finally/almost come to the end.

At the first place, I'm was planning to become a DRG, then i had a change of mind to become a Sam. And now after reading all these real stories, i'm pretty sure I had made up my mind to become a DRG when I hit lvl 30. I'm not afraid to take up this challenging job honestly.

I think DRG is very unique and attractive to me. But of course everyone have different taste and choice.

And well I feel like I have a bond with the DRG. I only played and only completed FFT and FF9 in the series, both of them also had the DRG job and i quite like Freya, I use her in my party most of the time.

Anyway, keep writing more of your experiences in here. I'm glad to read them.

Soloing to 75 from 1 nets you 1600+ Beastmen Seals and 400+ Kindred Seals (in my case). Although my linkshell was surprised at what I did, I was unable to get into any BCNMs/KSNMs due to no melee subs and they didn't trust me to solo a Platoon Scorpion in KSNM30 (which they recently done a few weeks back). But I'm working now anyways and have no time to party and can only play 2 days every 2-3 weeks. So I just generally log on and mess around and help linkshell members now.

Although that may sound really bad, I'm too layed back and easy going to get upset over the fact they didn't want me to do. I mean, I don't really care that much, I'm happy both ways and they've helped me a lot on missions/quests/AF. Although I lose the potential to be rich, I'm not playing much anyway.

Experience wise, I'm not aiming to be the best with the best gear and such or whatever, as much as I want my Wyrm AF set , I've helped a few younger DRGs to solo and such, although I don't know whether they have as much patience as me. I've been offered to go into a few DRG only shells, but I'm strictly on an 1 linkshell only rule as I hate carrying many pearls and swapping between them. My shell, is kinda like a family altogether.

So you know, it's all good. Maybe in the future when I have time to do Dynamis, I'll get it. But for now with my schedule, I've picked up BST to toy around with. But swimming in 1600+ seals feels really nice, and I actually manage to capture a screenshot of me being 1 EXP to 75 while soloing, which annoyed me slightly back then and but was funny nonetheless. Look out for my guide!

Re: The TRUE Power of Dragoons - share your stories.

I duoed Drg with my girl.

Drg/Whm = Me (Geared for MP)
Drg/War = Gf (Geared toward DD)

All I can say is, wow. I have never had so much fun. We on norm, duo all jobs from 1-20, and some jobs are fun, some aren't. But this one was mindblowing.

In the time it took my friend to get her Whm/Blm from 16-18. (3 hours). (Decent party)

My girl and I duoed from 16-20 (3 hours).

It has become more commonplace to see only a "decent" party in the dunes. We're happy about our decision to duo, and as plus, all our combat skills and magic skills are capping.

I'm considering leveling Drg after Rdm, as my own Guilty Pleasure.

I'm a 61DRG on Alexander, and I can tell you DRG's get no love from pt leaders. But anyways here's my story ^^

I Was bored from lfg a few days ago and decided to go into 60cap Ballista in Pashhow Marshlands, it was pretty late so it was mostly Japanese players participating but I decided to join anyways. About 15 mins into the game this Galka MNK starts beating up our whm, so naturally me and some other people go take him down, I used Jump and took the last bit of his HP down so he got angry at me and was all like "1v1?" and I was like... "ok ^^". So we go off to the side and establish ground rules, mainly no 2hr, but he figured it would be cheating if i called my wyvern so I was like "W/e fine, I wont use Wyvern, even tho its not 2hr", now this Mnk was pretty well off, Brown Belt, SH, Spectacles, the works, so immedietly i thought "This might not have been such a good idea." So we start fighting, We get each other to about Half HP, and I quickly use a Tp killing item so he cant WS me, and he starts b****ing, I use Bersrek >> Penta Thrust and get him down to about 1/4 HP, cancel Berserk, he uses a High potion so while hes doing that I Use an X potion, High Jump him, and than Deadleaus Wing and Penta thrust again get him to almost no health, wave goodbye, and Jump him, ya know just to piss him off my killing him the same way twice lol =P He go pissed off and got his whole team to gang beat me ; ;. But I felt proud that I took down a Galka MNK. ^^v DRG FTW!!!

Also I've noticed that alot of DRG's have RDM as their Main or 2nd main job... why is that? x.x lol

Preparation to solo to 75 maybe??

I stopped RDM due to insanely long party times (in my case, towards past midnight) and couldn't manage it because of university. I intend to solo RDM to 75 with BST sub when I have it levelled. I'm only Level 63 on RDM.

I think nit comes down to DRG is fun...RDM blows. People who play RDM realize DRG is fun and then quit RDM for DRG. Thats what I did at least.

                                LOL

No, RDM is fun too. I finally decided I need Invis, so I'm taking RDM from 21 to 25. I headed out to Meriphautad a few hours ago and tried a couple mobs to get a feel for my strategy. I just took an EM Lizard and easily took it without any enfeebles except poison. That's without food, juice, or a ranged weapon. Counter isn't triggering as often as I'd like, so I'm thinking about subbing DRG for ATK bonus.

And if you head over to the RDM forums, once a week you'll see a "I'm going to solo this NM 5 levels above me" thread. RDM is a pretty cool job.
