Ok...you'll catch a lot of flak as a DRG. Remember this when you're leveling the job. WHen DRKs say they outdamage you, that's pretty much on WS only. You cause more DoT....every parser I've seen the DRG outdamages the DRK on DOT, but the DRK always does about 3 times the DMG on the WS. DRG is a fun job, and very fun to experiment w/ certain subs.

Not sure about the comment about DRG and DRK DoT, but to answer his original level WAR to Lv.30 1st. Once you hit Lv.30 I would recommend doing a Skill Up. You can do this solo. Take a Polearm to Maze of Shakrami and skill up Polearm to about Skill Lv.40. It will make things a little easier for you starting out. Not that leveling DRG to Lv.10 is hard at all, but it will make things a little easier.

There are a lot of people who will say a lot of bad things about DRGs, don't pay any attention them.

Lvl your WAR to 30 with Gaxe, then skill up with a polearm as much as possible. You can get to atleast 50 at Pal. mines. After that.. get DRG unlocked then watch the sparks fly. Just about lvl 1-60 your going to have DoT over DRKs, maybe even damage per swing. Ive seen it happen several times..

Mm advice... Make your own parties as DRG? It's faster than seeking...

Yeah, you know, "DRK pwnz all, even ancient magic does less than DRK1's single hit", or "DRG sux and they do less damage than a melee WHM with fist".

DRG ain't crap at all, but for some unknown reason, no one likes DRG, if there are other choices, DRG is always the last choice(true to the idiots; well, they do make up the 99.9% of our population), so better to form your own parties as DRG.

Speaking as an actualy DRG, most of what was said above is correct. I would take WAR to 37 first however. It is quite annoying to sit and level to 60, only to find you need to go back and buy equip to level your sub again.

I'm not going to truly comment on the DRK/DRG thing, but I hold my own againstdecently equipped Rangers. Not going to say another word.

Up to about 50 you'll get a decent amount of invites. After that, people tend to think DRG suck. By the time you GET to 50, I am sure you'll have made a bunch of friends and you can create a party easily. Or if not...just make one with strangers. Don't let what people say get you down. Do what was said above, and you'll do fine.

The polearm weapon has a 25% damage bonus to flying monsters, so be sure to level off of them while you're soloing if it's possible. Most parties don't fight flying monsters from10-50 because some of them have some pretty nasty attacks, but only some of them. At 30-33 I think you can fight bats in Behemoth's Deminion. You'll find both types there, but stick to the single ones. At 52-55 you can go down into King Ranperre's Tomb and whoop up on the bats there. At 61-65 you can fight Tragopans in Bibiki Bay.

Always, ALWAYS, equip a lance whenever possible. Your first lance is at level 20, then 34, then 40, then 48, then 52, then 58, then 60. After 60 it's up to you what weapon you want because there's a large amount to pick from that only Drg can use.

WAR THF and WHM are all pretty much the best options. WAR for dmg in parties, WHM for solo and maybe backup heals and THF isnt to bad post 60 once you get wheeling thrust. I personally stick with WAR and WHM myself. SAM is also lots of fun in Ballista.

                    As for leveling progression...

Lvl Monk to 18 first to use as a sub job for Warrior. Switch to WAR and use MNK sub after completeing the sub job quest in Selbina/Mhaura

Lvl WAR to 30 or 37. 37 will be your max lvl of your sub at lv 74/75 but you dont not have to do that right away.

Lvl THF to 30-37 eventually as well to use as a sub in some EXP PT situations. You can use either WAR or MNK sub to lvl THF.

Now you can lvl DRG before fully leveling both subs, but make sure to keep subs lvld.

You'll notice you can get invites at a decent pace until about 50, as said, when people start to think you arent as good as the rest. Dont let this get to you. Thieves will be your best friend in leveling situations, we always need a good skillchain opener and DRG can do that for us in the levels that count (33-75 really.) Just make some friends and create your own PTs, keep your gear up-to-date and youll do fine.

As a Dragoon I don't like thieves. Why? Because they take forever to SATA. While I'm being drilled by the monster the thieves are always taking their time setting things up. It really doesn't take that long, and it sort of negates the hate holding effect it has when you take more damage than you would have taken initially.

Then you just PT with Bad THFs... I get off SC as the partner gets hit maybe 1 time if they get hit at all. Just like any other job there are good players and bad ones. Not to mention as a DRG a lot of people take what they get because people dont realize what they can really do.
