I just got 64 tonigh and planning on 65 by the end of the week. My current gear is in the link in my sig, except I have been using battle gloves for the +3 acc. I have the Ferral body armor at 65 ready, but I 'm wondering abou the head piece. We've been fighting Tormas in Onzozo. They must have high evasion or something. I have good acc already, but I have to gain TP as fast as a THF with a Scorpion Harness and Sniper's. I'm looking into a Green Beret +1 for an additional +2 acc. But that would replace +7 attack on my Valk Mask. But it would also make me about 250k towards my Colossal Lance fund. I figure the Valk Mask would be gone after I get an optical hat anyways. Anyone have an opinion on which would be better?

Truthfully, it all depends. I have enough to get a valk mask or some such right now if I wished, but I have stayed with my AF helm. I mean, it enhances the wyvern's breath attacks greatly among other things.
Unless it adds a large amount of acc, such as optical hat, I would stay with the AF helm. If you need +att....then switch your AF body and legs for Tiger/Feral gear. Keep your boots for the enhance jump effects, your gloves for the +dex and parry and the helm for breath damage. Until you get access (and rich enough) for the higher end stuff, your pretty much limited to that.

*Note* I'm only level 60 dragoon, but the AF Drachen Armet IMO is better than Valkyrie Mask. For 290k the mask doesn't give what what your paying for at this level. the +7 attack is not noticeable at all.
On the other hand the Armet has an Increase of Wyvern's Breath which is awsome during WS's. My suggestion is to stick with the Armet, not only does it look awsome...it's free practically. ^^
I do see a lot of higher DRG's using the Green Beret+1 for the +2 acc, do you think that it'll be noticable? I don't.
I really hope my advice helps...despite my 5 level defeicit(sp?) of yours.

You all say the AF helm is great, but I really don't notice a difference. Looking on the AH, hardly any Green Berets+1 sell at all. Nor is there a ton up there, I happened to buy the last one. I could still have my WS macro change to the AF helm, but like I said, I have a realy good THF. The faster we can both get TP, the faster we can SC and get those 900 dmg stonega 3 MB's.
IMO though, out AF pretty much sucks. I already replaced the legs and feet with tiger/ferral. I was thinking about battle bracers+1 over the battle gloves because they have more defence. The +3 dex doesn't do much and the +10 is useless unless parry is maxed. I only use the AF gloves when I don't have too much of a problem gainning TP. With the AF boots, "enhances Jump effect" does crap. I can still do good jump without them. I'm more than convinced those are worthless.Mobile 2400+ @11.5x200MHz, 1.7v| NF7-S 2.0 | 2x512 Corsair pc3200

If you say so. Your main problem is you want TP, TP, TP. If you think a measly +2 accuracy is goingto help you gain that much more TP, well, more power to you.
And a few facts on the AF.
Drachen Armet - The main reason I say this is for soloing purposes, or odd subjobs. aka WHM or NIN sub willl get you healing and balanced wyvern in that order. In the end, I get a steady 155-200 damage on breath attack on my wyvern each and every single ws. Oh, and by the way. With the Armet equipped, your wyvern use the elemental breath that the enemy is WEAKEST too. Which is why I get those figures. You don't use it, the wyvern just does a random one.
Drachen Finger - Ummm...you DO know the current DEX/ACC conversion yes? 2 DEX = 1 accuracy. The 3 DEX is basically 1.5 accuracy. Ummm...yeah. I see no point. Not only do they add +10 parrying, which I see all the time because I'm usually the person the THF SATA onto, but I also farm and solo alot. Oh, and lets not forget the +HP bonuses that every AF piece adds.
Drachen Greaves - Umm, yeah. Besides the HP bonus and Enhance Jump, these aren't anything special. But when I consistently do 200-300 damage jumps on VT-IT mobs, with the occasional 400-500 it ends up getting noticed, ifnot by you then the party you are with. Hell, on my best day I got around a 780 damage jump on the Mimas NM in Delkfutt, then a 730 on Poryvion.
The main point I'm making is, don't second guess your AF. AF is made to each person's strong points, even though they screwed DRG over.
I am just stating some opinion and figures I have saved on my friend's damage log. I used to be in a STP of DRG, DRG, DRK, RDM, WHM. We usually just scooped up any PLD after ours screwed us over. With both DRG's subbing THF, or one THF and one WAR...god, the SC's we pulled out of thin air off each other and with the DRK were ENDLESS. It was nothing but skillchains constantly firing off.
However, each case is different. Like now, I have no more stp because most of them quit, and I rarely get parties. Go figure. ~shrug~ Like I said, do what you think is best for you.

EDIT: Almost forgot. The main reason why I like the gloves the best, out of our AF, is the increased wyvern acc. It can make a pretty good difference.

I used Green beret +1 from 65-71
Since I have Mermans earring and Amemit +1 so it makes up for it a little and I love acc (elvaan).
AF helm is imo useless unless you sub whm, wyvern doesnt do any more damage and at least my wyvern uses the right breath 90% of the time.
I still use the greaves since every other feet gear sucks.Colossal lance, Optical hat, Mermans gorget, Assault earring, Coral earring, Assault jerkin, Drachen fng. gnt., Ruby ring x2, Forager's mantle, Life belt, Barone cosciales, Barone Gambieras
