Ok As of right now Im a lvl 30 Mith DRG/WAR and I've heard alot from friends and people online that frankly Dragoons aren't very good at all because they really have nothing other melee classes dont. I just want to know if this is untrue or if I've wasted all this time lvling a class that won't get parties at higher levels. A respond would be nice.

To be truthful, no....no you won't get parties at higher levels. Some people just don't like DRG's, and most just misunderstand what the job can do.
Your best bet is to get a static party, which will make it a bit easier to level post 55 when people look past DRG and onto other jobs.
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.

Why can't the damned Dark Knight keep a Greatsword leveled? I have a thf, I wanna use him to the fullest potential. Aren't there any Dragoons seeking party? Oh shit, that's right, everyone thinks they suck so I can never find them when I need 'em.
Well, that's why I like Dragoons..... After 55 when the other melees start having ways to do the same crap as you, I guess you'd have to heed the advice about static. Dunno too well. Not that level yet."And if he left off dreaming about you, where do you suppose you'd be?"

Keep in mind that if stupid people don't invite you, you'll get less invites, but more of the ones you *do* get will be with smart people. This will work to your advantage.
Also, you can form your own parties, or join a LS and go on some LS events (genkai, coffer keys, whatever) - then when those people are looking for parties and see you looking, they'll invite you because they know you. Assuming you actually are good at the job
For the record, if *I'm* forming a party, I'm just as likely to invite a DRG as any other physical damage dealer. There's usually a glut of DDs in general, but that doesn't make me any less likely to invite a DRG than a MNK or SAM or DRK or RNG. (WAR may sometimes get invited to tank.)
If you really want to get parties right away, all the time, be a bard - but be ready to work your ass off because bard is *insanely* busy, and pretty complicated if you want to do it well. But that's another thread.Defeated: Maat, Divine Might, Fenrir, Kirin, Cactrot Rapido, Xolotl, Diabolos Prime, Kurrea, 9/10 Dynamis Bosses (missing Tav), Promathia, Proto-Ultima, Proto-Omega, 4 Jailers, Apocalypse Nigh, 6/6 Nyzul Bosses
RDM90, PLD90, DRG90, COR90, SCH90, BLU54
All Nations Rank 10, ZMs & PMs Complete, AUMs Complete, Captain, Nyzul Floor 100 (5 Weapons, 4 WS), Medal of Altana, WotG Mission 15, 1/3 Addons Complete, 9/9 Abyssea Main Quests, 6/6 Caturae

Anyway, I don't know why people put down DRG so much. I don't party with them all that often, but I've yet to see a major lacking in their job. I'm at 57 right now. Am I just not at the level where DRG sucks yet or something?SAM 74

When I'm making a party, it looks like this - PLD or NIN, me (THF), other melee, whm, rdm or bard, blm - normally.
Pts past 65 basically form in order to make lvl 3 skillchains. For me, I have shark bite (haven't finished the evisceration quest yet) so that leaves me with three good options - Warrior (1h Axe), Ranger (Arching Arrow/Heavy Shot), and Dragoon (Wheeling Thrust). I generally look for Ranger first (unless nin tank, then war), then War, then Drg. However, at my lvl there's not exactly alot of NA or NA friendly JPs around, so if I get a Drg, i'm not disappointed. All 3 jobs work fine for cocs and tigers in kuftal, where I normally xp. Warrior/Nin is nice because they are best for getting initial hate and not getting owned, and they are great for backup tank with ninja/trick buddy. Ranger is good because they do the best dmg out of the 3, and the biggest SCs with me. Drg is good because they can clear hate with super jump when i stick it to them, and Wheeling thrust is stronger now after the patch - approaching the War WS, although not quite. As a thf, I have partied with many drgs, mainly because spear is a good weapon to start distortion/light for such a long period of time. If that wasn't the case however, no, i wouldn't be choosing them. Not because of dmg, but more because for my xp parties, it seems that superjump is the only useful ability that adds to the party.A Galka raised by Chocobos, now he runs as one of them.

At my lvl I normally look for ranger first to be SC partner with. However if no rngs I can find or get to join I next look to drk, sam, drg in no favor. I favor none of the 3 jobs more than eachother.
If I have to choose between these 3 jobs it comes down to equipment, their tnl, search comment, race, rank unless I happen to know one of them and they're of good skill. Of course good skill can't always be remotely determined by looking at xp comments.
To sum up I don't put drg at a lower platform than other up close melees that can start my SCs.ANYWAY BIG BEN THINK LIKE THIS ITS LIKE HEY GUYS WHY BE RACIST?? RACISM HURTS EVERYBODY ON INSIDE MAKE BIG BEN SADFACE ITS ALL ABOUT SKILLS CUZ WHEN BIG BEN HAD TO WORK ON FARM AS CHILD BEN HAD TO MAKE FARMING PT MADE OF ASIAN MAN BLACK MAN(THATS ME) MEXICAN MAN CHECHOSLOVAKIAN MAN AND IT WAS BEST FARMING PT EVER CAUSE ALL MEN HAD HQ SHOVELS AND TRACTORS AND KNOW HOW TO PLAY SO FARMING WAS QUITE GOOD

ok and now for the post topic, I have yet to have trouble as a drg, and I know it's said to be they get bad at 60+, so feel free to not be the 143427842489624 and 8th person to tell me, but I think if you play the job right keep up good equipment and just learn to like it and get good at it you will be fine[Blm 75] [Mnk 72] [Drg 64] [Brd 41] [War 37] [Whm 37] [Rdm 37] [Sam 28] [Smn 26] [Thf 25] [Blu 12] [Nin 10] [Pld 9] [Bst 8] [Rng 8] [Pup 3] [Cor 1] [Drk 1] Rank 10 San D'oria

Well I have Always wanted to be a dragoon, and even if its a "melee" job, I wanted to sub my RDM (which is my main job) because of the Mind stats that DRG accumulates. Anyway, I think the job is always gonna be coo, but peeps just keep looking for same combos of jobs that everyone else looks for. People just need to keep their mind open to more than a party of 4 DRKs or 4 RNGs and a tank and whm.:p

Seriously, don't sub RDM. It's a terrible idea on SO MANY LEVELS unless for non PTing purposes.

the only thing wrong with dragoon is wheeling thrust, it's just an overall bad skill. The problem with piercing on skeletons isnt really a problem. It just seems people are obsessed with level 3 skillchains. but skewer is just so good. I dont see anything wrong with skewer > dancing edge. It also has the benefit of letting either ninja or paladin tanks to follow up with a weaponskill to make darkness for even more magic bursting fun. It's a great skillchain for spiders, flys, manticores, and golems. Even on weapons it works wonderful, but i mostly think its just cause theyre so weak any skillchain is enough to do them in.
i seriously think its just the obsession where a lot of people think you MUST do level 3 skillchains after 65 though. Which then forces the DRG to do wheeling thrust or impulse drive which are both a bit on the weak side.
A lot of why people think dragoon is weak though is they just completely ignore what the wyvern is doing. That little guy does a lot more damage than what he's given credit for and adds damage to your WS which a lot of people also just completely ignore. Also, the dragoon himself does damage pretty much equal to a dark knight. slightly less per hit but slightly faster swing and dragoons are naturally more accurate. Just dragoon's WS are a bit messed up. Your best weaponskill is double thrust until skewer and thats it. penta thrust is amazing for farming but it's skillchain options are too limited to be very useful in most exp parties. Not exactly a bad thing though since almost every easy leveling mob is weak to water or ice anyways.
Dragoon's are plenty good. A very strong class. The worst part is the rumors that theyre so horrible at everything is what will kill you :dead:
a lot of people won't even give you a chance to show your worth

Hugglebunny is right, a parser log showed that for every say 6k or so damage I did, the wyvern did 2k damage, so people really need to look more at what he does before calling drg gimp[Blm 75] [Mnk 72] [Drg 64] [Brd 41] [War 37] [Whm 37] [Rdm 37] [Sam 28] [Smn 26] [Thf 25] [Blu 12] [Nin 10] [Pld 9] [Bst 8] [Rng 8] [Pup 3] [Cor 1] [Drk 1] Rank 10 San D'oria
