You haven't read the discussions here then, if you don't know why all other subs suck compared to /WAR. Not going to bother explaining it, and during lower (sub-30) levels it doesn't matter as much, but your non-WAR subbing DRG friends are just too lazy to level WAR sub, or don't like WAR.
    My stuff~

"Does DRG have to be melee"

      As ive seen posted before...Yes

Like it, or use another job. What you think your gonna sub whm and sit back and heal people while ur wveryn just stands there and uses healing breath? NO.

DRG is a melee class. Look at the stats. Look at the job traits. Look at the Abilities.

I will occasionally sub RDM for farming and camping NM's. As a Mithra 43DRG/21RDM I have 70 MP and insanely low INT and MND. Try contributing to a PT as a melee who is trying to cast with a MP pool like that. Try using DD spells with low INT. I cast stone the other day for kicks and it did 1 HP of DMG. Sure, stone is a low-level spell but come on.

Why not boost INT? Because you need every bit of accuracy and attack you can get to make up for the clumsiness of DRG. Why not boost MP? See the previous comment. Even juices are not going to make you an effective caster. What about en- spells? If you think 3-6 damage per hit from an elemental enhancement is worth giving up Berserk and other WAR benefits, I think you are mistaken. Remember also that your subjob is limited to level 37 so at level 75 you won't have many extremely useful spells available. I think there are rare cases where DRG/mage can work but in general I would stay away.

So how come DRK and PLD work with small MP pools? Because they get spells appropriate to their jobs and have been designed to use magic alongside their primary activities.

I appreciate people trying to think outside the box for ways to improve DRG but the fact is that DRG is a melee class and melee/caster combos almost never work. DRG is a weakened job to start out with (thank God for static parties), subbing a mage only makes it worse.

        The best DRG is DRG/WAR

If you don't like that consider DRG/THF or DRG/SAM

To the 'cookie-cutter' haters out there... do what you want. If something works for you then go for it, but like it or not there are more and less effective job combos out there and I would rather be in a party with a combo that is not exactly what I wish I could have than looking for a party with a combo no one wants.
