"I've heard japanese players refusing to invite monks into pts for any reason untill they get dragon kick AND are fighting bone type monsters. From personal experience, i would always choose drgs/rng/thfs/wars instead of monks, drks only if they have sniper rings(sorry, but i just can't stand seeing them miss over and over...period). Basicly, its just an example about other jobs needing improvements too, i'm sure everyone believes their own ones need some upgrades. Let us not stray from the topic."

    ROTFLMFAO.
    Just do it.

...Just so I remember this correctly...
You are a lvl 52 RDM...
OK, that's out of the way.

Now each job should have a weakness, it balances the game.
However, when one job is forced to confront their weakness too often
while the other jobs encounters it rarely, this creates an imbalance.
Yet this imbalance isn't as detrimental to Monk
as most seem to think (or at least not for as long as you seem to think.)

You, who spoke of narrow perspectives, are a victim of your own limited point of view.
You are limited to what you experience and seem to assume you are at least half right when you are in fact only 25% right.
You have been fighting mostly Crabs, Beetles, or Crawlers for the last....10 lvls, give or take a few.
Two have a blunt resistance, two have a resistance to Fusion,
and all three have high Vit and regularly use defense boosts.
Yes, Distortion is good on all of them and this will be
what the majority of people will lean towards.
However, if my time fighting helms in CN or robbers in kuftal taught me anything,
it was that you shouldn't believe everything a high lvl tells you.
Getting the right SC element isn't always important,
weapon resists don't hurt as much as you think,
and most weakness can be compensated for.

My inability to create Distortion was a non-issue through what I was told to be
the most grueling, ego busting, and PTless lvls for Monk.
My DOT was constantly good and RF was usually 130-200+ (anything less = 1/5 hits or less and/or mob buffs.)
I was not fighting with weaklings and I was not a drag on the group.

The only thing the Monk class needed fixed was taken care of in the last update.
Our damage potential was never the problem, the redundant mobs were.
What needs to be fixed now are the 15-65 lvling mobs and hunting camps.
Do you have ANY IDEA how many people go to Boyahda?
A few nights ago, there were 36+ people in the Boyahda Tree from lvls 63-66,
that’s each and every single camp there is for that range.
We were forced to chain Toramas in Onzozo,
it was good exp until every camp there was taken as well.

You may have been told a lot, but you still know little.
I Know the weakness of my job, you didn’t have to tell me,
and I believe they should be left the way they are.
Dragoon’s problems 60+ are basically the same as Monk’s 60-.
The only difference is most of Monk’s WS don’t suck, but that’s another topic....wait...
Anyway Monk doesn’t need the hardcore tooling DRG needs, if any.
The EX. jobs need work, but the others are as balanced as their gunna get.

I gotta stop doing this when I need sleep. ~.~

So the Helm Beetles resisting Distortion bringing it from 300+ to around 50 isn't that bad to you?

            You...kinda missed the point.

First, you have to hit them for over 300 to begin with
and second, I wasn't say it was or wasn't best, I was saying that's what most people will try to perform.

Double Thrust: 250, SA+TA+Viper Bite: 500+, Distortion: 250+. Since the Distortion dmg effects the MB, I'd say a 50 dmg Distortion is quite an impact.

Your right though, with a THF in the party, all we do is distortion.

                Oh my....

rofl what has become of my inspirational topic? ; ; I thought I made it clear in the beggining that drg has big problems... no need to argue that... this was really just to try and get some fellow drgs through tough times, not spark debate. I'm lvl 66 and I can tell you straight up that if a drg's job was to simply be a damage dealer, then we fail in comparison to the majority of other, if not all, damage dealing jobs. Wheeling thrust makes me cry sometimes.

I love drg; I think they're spiffy... I enjoy being like 1 of 10 on my server lol. Some say its a boring job, i think all jobs are boring... if the reason you play ffxi is the gameplay, then you should probably find another game. I enjoy being 1 of maybe 10 on my server haha. I have good friends, good gear, and a decent reputation so I excel. I do healthy damage, set up the light skillchian, and I think i'm a damn good trick partner for those 1k+ spinning slashes.

To those who are drg: i'm sorry, but its true... why do you think all the higher levels on this board lament? But if you enjoy the job, play it and have fun... that's what games are for right? If big dmg is your cup o' tea, then you should probably play anotehr job.

To those who are not drg: stop rubbing it in  I've heard numerous times Drk sucked hard in the beggining... Drg will have their day.... my only woe is i'll probably be lvl 75 before then.

                peace

                  uh-huh...

There all fighting it is insane o.O...

Btw, I just hit lvl 40 a few days ago with DRG, and I have told my LS about the problem from 50 onwards, so as a solution, we have created a static party so I feel I can get this job to 75 easily now, knowing that some of my closest friends will always be needing me in a party!

I am firmly set on playing a Dragoon as soon as I can. Why? Because I like the role. I like long, pointy weapons like spears or lances. And I like everything that has to do with Dragons. What other reasons do I need? The RP in RPG does actually mean something, and despite some people's beliefs, it doesn't have anything to do with mathematical values
