Job and classes help!!!

Hi all
Im new to FFXI online, ive played pretty much all the ff's except this one, and the game should be arriving in a few days as i ordered it from importmadness.com (i live in uk). Anyway ill get to the point, I was thinking off being a dragoon. But i have no idea what class to start as. I think the healing breath sounds pretty cool. Also what would be a good sub as i get into the later levels. I want a character that does a lot of damage and is good in melee fights. It would also be nice to have some magic at my disposal. If you want to make leveling Dragoon easy enough, level a warrior first. Use warrior as a sub til 60, since there isn't a ton of point in the other subs, they aren't vastly better/worse in some cases. If you want magic, Dragoon isn't it. It is a straight up melee damage dealer, that is it really. You can sub WHM for healing breath but generally it wouldn't help as much as say a damage dealing sub job would.

Warrior and Thief are both the popular subs. Heal breath is ok soloing, but you will be doing next to none of that past level 20. For grps, melee and magic do not mix.
