how does this work? i thought ur sub had to be a basic job, like war or whm or something:confused:

Nope, your main and sub can be whatever you want.
DRG/SAM works out very well too. You'll gain TP fast which means you and your wyvern will do more WS/Breath attacks. Plus SAM is good in polearm, which is DRGs main weapon.

so how do you go about doing that? b/c i have to do the quest for both right?

1. Get to level 18, do your sub job quest.
2. Get to level 30+, do both Samurai and Dragoon quests.
3. Switch them around in your mog house.

You'll understand it all much better when you start playing.

yeah confuseing i thought when you make your char you get to chose what job for them....so how do u lvl up to lvl 18 with out a job?

You don't. You have to choose one of the "basic" jobs like warrior or white mage. You take a base class to 18. You can change classes at will but each class has a different level. So you have to level each class indvidually.

Basic scenario:

Start at level 1 w/ a WAR. Take WAR to 18. Do quest and get ability* to have subjob. Pick any job as subjob (of what is available to you). Continue on to 30 w/ WAR/MNK (or whatever subjob was) and do the quests for DRG and SAM. This makes the classes available to you. It does not make you that class. You could do quest and stay a WAR if you wanted. Now make your main class DRG (and/or SAM) and your subjob SAM (and/or DRG). Alternate having DRG and SAM as the main job to level up each job.

*Quest gives the ability to have subjob, it does not make you choose a job. You could do quest and never have a subjob.
