Dragoon/Redmage combo

I was wondering how this combo will work. I know subing a magic class with a melee class is bad, but a redmage is right in the middle somewhere. I used a stat calculator with drag/red drag/drk and drag/pal all have almost the same stats. So that is no problem. I know melee wise you will loose some str and def but you gain some spells exspecially some buff spells and maybe haste if im correct. Plus your pet will be a heal pet. Any input would be apreciated.
