I was wondering what would be the Pros and Cons for Drg/Rdm and Drg/Blm, I kind of want to be both Rdm and blm, but can't decide, any help would be awesome
Please, neither. I hate to try to dictate what job combo you'll pick or break down your preconceived notions, but melee classes are just not meant to sub mage classes. The only exception would be WAR/WHM, and then only as a pro tempore combo to set you up for PLD or something. Good subs for DRG are: WAR, THF, and ... that's pretty much it. Possibly also SAM for TP building, PLD or DRK to change your Wyvern's attacks, or mayyyybe WHM once in a blue moon to put your wyvern on curative mode.
Between the two you mentioned, I would think RDM is marginally marginally better. Use that combo if you're just goofing around with friends who don't care whether you do that combo or something really awful like THF/BST.
Ille deus Morpheus non est Morpheus de Matrice, sed Morpheus, deus somni et mutantis!
DRG/RDM is a fine combo
its what I play as I have 2 levels in war cuz I did the stupid drk quest TT.
BUT unlike what Ill deus said , RDM and Thf are two primary non war class you see fairly with drg at least on Ramuh.
there are many topics here on this section of the forums that help with subs.
Dont get caught up in stats and what not , Advacned jobs may not been meant to be sj'ed but work rather well with the starter jobs.contrary to popular belief a drg is not a tank class , its a damage dealer, theres a difference.
Also square made the jobs that can be subbed useful to a drg's wyvern, read rent a hamsters topic above.
The DRG is the RDM of the melee classes , Its skills are very specialized to shock and awe the monster, and build up tremendous hate towards himself.
Also our weakening spells remain quite effective even subbed.
now until level 10 when a drg gets jump , you can use a 1 handed sword to do more dmg to a monst. BUT you wanna alternate with a spear also to make sure you raise your skills in it.
With rdmg subbed he gains more stat boosts then looses, he also gains the baility to use dark and white magery along with red magery.
I personally only use status and heals, During renkei after we get the effect, I even add a 10 point or so MB to the fight.
not alot but damage is damage.
another plus is that if you save the weapons and gear for your RDM you can use them for drg ,since they can wear the same gear. I would advise you level war if you want to use taunt or get your spear leveled before you do DRG quest.
DRG/BLM although it can be used its not really very verastile as you can only deal damage and not take it. BLM takes away stats , It also forces you to spend hard earned gil on things you wont use very much.
YOU also cannot self heal, Your healing is strictly from your baby wyvern,.
If you are going the non warrior sub like me then you need to choose between RDM for verastility and thf for more specialized thf abilities.
DRG/SAM after level 60 is good.
Hm.. Personally, I wouldn't want to sub a mage. I'd rather just dish out my damage and be done with it, while leaving debuffs and what not to the dedicated mages. Having an MP-consuming sub requires sitting, and sitting requires TP loss. While, yes, you'll be sitting a lot for your wyvern, and you can gain back your TP relatively fast... adding in another reason to lose TP isn't worth it, in my opinion. It really just boils down to your playing style, but subbing melee jobs that buff your best attributes is generally a better idea than buffing really weak and/or non-existant ones
I agree with Tazirai, and I'm subbing RDM into Dragoon when I finally get there (lousy PS2 retail date...). And from what I hear, yah, subbing SAM at lv 60 and doing mad Pentathrusts proves to be very deadly. OOC, would a theif's Triple Attack work with Penta? o______________O;;;
