Read: When does it stop getting fun?

I was able to get 3 levels in two days thanks in part to decent people in the Dunes, EXP bands and Corsair's Roll.

My question is mostly in regards to when does DRK stop being so fun? As a career RDM and an up-and-coming PLD, DRK is MUCH different: I just engage, poison and drain if I get hit in AOE.

Also, thanks in part to the update, I can eat something outrageous like Tacos and get a boost from that, and DRK is much different than when I tried to play in the Dunes about 3 months and and gave up.

I only INTEND to take DRK to 37, but as the levels go up, I noticed that DRKs tend to need high end gear more desperately than, say, a SAM would.

Also, my line of thought is that since I already have a Haubergeon, a good portion of what's needed in terms of gear for mid-game is already checked off.

But It's unlikely that I'll even be wearing the Luisant set anyway, but what major gear upgrades should I be looking forward to before lvl 40?

    Re: Turnover Point

I dont know if my comments will be valid, as I took drk up with my long time set PT of friends. I never did the 2h axe route, and I dont have /nin lvled, so I did old skool scythe and GS the whole way. I think the least fun were lvls 40-60 or so. Gear choice was sorta meh, weapon skills were meh, spell choices were meh. I would wager than unless you are already excited about taking drk to 75 (which doesnt sound like it) you might find the job hard to enjoy for quite sometime after hitting your 37 goal.

      Re: Turnover Point

I just got DRK to 40 a few nights ago and I'm really looking forward to taking it up into higher levels. The fun for me stops, however, when I realize I've been sitting around LFG for 2.5hrs and I still haven't gotten an invite. Otherwise, I think DRK is really fun and I have been enjoying it tremendously. Also, apparently I'm old school as well because I've been going the scythe/GS route as well.

PLD75 DRK60 lots of other levels.

Fuck that, I'm going to Dual-Wield 1h Axes and bust out some uber damage.

Srsly. Stacking on Dex for free damage is just too much fun. My Axe and my Sythe can be at the same level, but I'll get a good 15 or so attack just from switching equipment!

This update made it tolerable to level DRK.

DRK is not nearly as hard to level as it once was. That two handed update is a miracle for the job. No more accuracy issues thanks to 1 DEX = 1 Accuracy. With decent accuracy gear you should never need to eat sushi again. Eat meat sub WAR and abuse all that natural attack!

EDIT: 1 handed axes on DRK? Go play WAR... seriously. Do *not* do that pre-rampage, and even then. Scythe, Great Sword and Great Axe will be your best friends.

I'm in the process of leveling DRK myself. So far it's been enjoyable, but I still don't know.

I've totally been stacking on the DEX, though (and swapping in STR for WS). It's working out pretty well, even as a Taru.

If you're not swinging a giant weapon, you aren't leveling DRK.

My apologies, Mal, I was being Murphie.

With Shield Break, once you pop, the fun don't stop.

                  Hint hint.
