Ya, and the more interesting part, Desperate Blows is Weapon Delay -%, not haste -%. So it dosn't count twards a cap, thus making is possible to achieve a level of attack speed close to his, without having an Apocolypse. You could do it with capped Desperate Blows merits, 25% haste gear, and a BRD and RDM hasting you.
You could do it once every 5mins or so since Desperate Blows procs when you use Last Resort (which makes DRK relic boots alot more valuble)but, you'd die in seconds without 2hr or a massive Cure bomb.

You know it is mathematically impossible to achieve 100% Haste.
Haste works in a way that 50% halves Delay, 66% thirds it, and so on. That means its a factor of the percent not hasted.
50% Haste = 50% "non-Haste" = 1/2 Delay = 2/1 * as many attacks
66% Haste = 33% "non-Haste" = 1/3 Delay = 3/1 * as many attacks
100% Haste = 0% "non-Haste" = 0/x Delay = x/0 * as many attacks
x = whatever number you want, except for 0 for sake of arguement (you could even use imaginary numbers if you wanted). Since you can't divide by zero, 100% Haste is intentionally impossible.

If we don't like something, collectively, if our hatred for it throbs like an abscess beneath every thread, does that mean that they're doing something right?

As hard as it may be, don't take this game or your characters too seriously. I promise you - the guys that really own your account don't.
A 2hr ability that greatly reduces weapon delay. I have no idea what affect it has on tp though. Meaning, I don't know if it acts like dual wield or haste.
I believe hundred fist is weapon delay -66%.. not haste. it used to be haste % but that made mnk/nin insane.

According to the wiki, the -delay from desperate blows is applied "in the same step" as haste, and it makes it sound like it's directly additive. I don't know that it matters though. a x b x c = a x c x b
It mattered to me because it made me think of Paladin's "Sentinel." If a Paladin uses Sentinel w/o the Leggings while equipped with an Earth Staff, he obviously doesn't get -110% Damage, he gets -92% Damage (this also according to Wiki).
I wondered if there was a similar catch to stacking -Weapon Delay and Haste.

Ah. I got hung up on the word "first." For the Sentinel example, it doesn't matter whether you reduce damage by 90% and then by 20% or the other way around, you end up with 92% reduction. If one of them is applied "first" then that means they're being applied seperately, in which case it doesn't matter what order they're in.
I see what you're getting at though. If they're applied at the same time as the wiki says then they just add, so 25% desperate blows + 15% haste spell = 40% decrease in delay, rather than a 34.25% decrease if they were applied seperately.
If Desperate Blows lowers TP gain like Dual Wield, then it's certainly figured before. This is why NINs in haste gear get so nuts so incredibly fast. 50% haste on someone swinging at 300 delay is nuts. 50% haste on someone swinging at an effective delay of 180 is just insane. 70% haste ... you get the idea.
Hundred Fists is still a haste effect that simply doesn't apply to spellcasting (like Hasso, but no -casting time either). In fact, haste gear apparently has no effect on a Monk using Hundred Fists.
Tipsy, I've seen KC DRK, and I think Apoc-man has it better. He swings almost as fast, but with 56 more attack and 50 more acc (before figuring in Abyssal Earring / Justice Torque). Not to mention, KC Drk actualy needs more cure bitches -- Catastrophe still drains an impressive amount back for the user (amount of damage dealt, isn't it?). Hey, every little bit helps.
EDIT: OK, just read the FF wiki article. It appears that Desperate Blows (btw, Wiki says it'd be 15%, not 30%) is melee haste like Hasso. Also, like Hasso, it's what's breaking the 70% cap, not the Apoc 10% haste (or so it'd seem). All the same, it should get applied the same ways as haste buffs and handled as such.
So it appears we don't have a lot of DRK activity around here... not a single screeny other than Tipsy's?
Ya that was my bad, I was figuring 6 total in group 2 merits, but I realized group 2 can only be upgraded 3 times ><
Tipsy, I've seen KC DRK, and I think Apoc-man has it better. He swings almost as fast,
He dosn't tho. It might appear that way, but, the game can't keep up with KC DRK.
A KC DRK setup would be somewhere along the lines with 20~% haste gear, and tons and tons of HP gear / hp food and ACC, hence why SH+1 or SH is used alot on KC DRKs.
So with all that, 2k HP (Souleater 10% of HP --> your next hit) that's base of 200 damage per KC swing and add the base damage of KC to it, so if you hit for like 20-30 per swing, add that to the 200. Figure 2-8 KC swings per round, and with 20% haste+ and haste spell/ haste song (same buffs as Apoc DRK), at most you'd hit 1.7k~ damage per second. Now times that by 30 secs (assuming at best, of course, no misses). KC would clearly show Apoc up.
And..
Not to mention, KC Drk actualy needs more cure bitches
Look at the above paragraph and realize that for every hit for 230~ you recover 230~ aswell(1-8 hits). Even if you where getting hit for 500+ you'd manage to recover up pretty nicely.

Wouldn't a haub (or if you have it, Chaos Cuirass +1) be a lot better? Yah there's no +HP on the haub but the +STR DEX and attack and accuracy >. >
Also you forgot about Chaos Burgeonet (or whatever of the 3 soul eater pieces you wish to use) for 12% HP instead of 10. On a Galka DRK with merits and gear this is insane @. @
For the haub comment it really depends. Some DRKs want to directly enhance Souleater with HP+, other will take the chance adjusting their melee stats for the bease DMG of the KC to be enhanced.
Also you forgot about Chaos Burgeonet (or whatever of the 3 soul eater pieces you wish to use) for 12% HP instead of 10.
Well the AF head does have HP+ so some KC DRKs use it anyway.
but,
It can be used in the Souleater macro
/equip head "Chaos Burgeonet"
/ja "Souleater" <me>
/wait 2
/equip head "Whatever"
and let's not forget Dark Seal + Drain II for 400~HP which if you use at 100% HP you get Max HP boost that adds the amount to your max HP, so if you had 2,000 HP w/ gear and food, it'd be 2,400 after Drain 2. So that's another 40 Damage per hit you can add.
