That's just the way things work when you do the same thing most everyone else wants to do.
Notice that there are only two to three tank jobs (PLD, NIN - WAR and BLU can tank at lower levels, but that goes away later for the most part), four healer jobs (WHM, RDM, with an honorable mention for both SMN and BLU), and three support jobs (RDM, BRD, COR), and only one nuker (BLM).
Most of the remaining jobs (SAM, RNG, DRG, MNK, WAR, DRK, THF) are damage oriented. Not only are you in competition with more jobs for your party slots, but damage jobs attract a greater proportion of players than other jobs, so there's more people in each job to compete with too.

Re: Get More Parties
Find a static group of people to level the job with, or build your own parties. Even then it may still take you a while to actually build a group and head to a camp.
Fortunately, I managed to have a static of one kind or another for about 90% of my DRK career. Friend of mine (PLD) and I leveled to Lv.32 in about 10 days. Then we picked up a MNK. Around Lv.40 we grabbed a BRD and WHM and leveled to Lv.50. I sat in on another friend's static to hit Lv.51 where my PLD friend went back to PLD to level with his wife's THF. We're all Lv.61 now, and the PLD is now switching to NIN. lol
During that span of EXP, I've had two pick up groups (One stunk and almost doesn't count, and the 2nd one was to play catch up with the other static members.), and a ton of Skill Up parties (My Atk is so damn high I can't skill up 1 weapon during EXP, let alone 2!).
You may have more fun if you build a static with LS members, and if you set up certain days to EXP, you can farm on the off days, and always know that you will be progressing in the job. But Icemage hit it on the head. There are just so many melee jobs, and so few mage jobs that the melee spend a lot of time LFG (Some more than others.), while mages get party invites when they don't even have their party flag up.Odude

Re: Get More Parties
All above mentioned are good ideas. I have been invited by the same people a lot. I was polite, fun and knowledgeable in my parties. I believe that if you party well, then you will see a higher invite rate.
