Think of it this way. Thanks to inflation, I bought mine at 7million, I now see it at 4million, a little annoying, but oh well. You can upgrade it later on, it's worth it, I love it.

      3. More highly skilled or adept: I am better at math than English.
      4. More advantageous or favorable; improved: a better chance of success.

I hate to do this, but QFT.
All us cookie cutter characters will always go for the best equipment.
In this case, Haubergeon is much better than Jaridah crap.

It's like 2.5 mil on my server, but it's not even worth that much at all. Try 1.2 million and then it's worth it (The price of it before 2nd world shift on Hades)
Please show me where I said people need a Haubergeon? I said it's worth it because it is, you can use that piece of armor for the rest of the game. The *only* thing the Hauberk has over the Hauby is the fact is that is has no eva down stat. And on the jobs that can equip both, -eva is one of the most insignificant stats to worry about. Yes the hauby is worth multi millions of gil, it is the second/third (Excluding HQs) best DD body piece in game where the only ones better are both derived from the Hauby.

Yes there are alternatives that people like more, but not because they're better but because they're *cheaper*. The hauby not only matches the stat bonuses the other gear gives, it blows them both away. This was done on purpose by SE to give alternatives while keeping the Hauby number 1 for it's lvl. But just because *you* like to cheap out on gear doesn't mean everyone should and the people willing to put that extra effort into owning the best should and will reap it's rewards.

I've been trying to save for one but first I'm getting that Vassperos (spelling?) scythe, which is 800k.

Untill I do get a Hauby, I'll be sticking with a Peti, or as I like to call it, the bastardised hauby. To be quite honest, I do fine with the peti for now and I have trouble saving 200k a day nevermind saving 3 million.

Don't upgrade it unless you know for a fact you won't need it ... ever. There's so many jobs that can use a Haubergeon but not the upgrade. Not sure about your server, but if it's super expensive, then be prepared to buy both a Hauberk and Haubergeon if you plan on leveling other melee jobs that can use the Haubergeon. And don't forget, you're gonna not have a gear for BC60s ...

            This is rich. Why?

            (1) I had 2 Haubergeon's in possession and a Hauberk at one time, due to various circumstances.
            (2) I also have other great gear (V Cloak for that matter)

I've played my job longer than most players only because on that character, that is the only main I play on. While most players whine and bitch about end game not accepting DRKs and generally jump ship for other toys (Read: RNG, SAM, MNK, WAR, BLM etal) I stayed on.

As such, it is based on my experience that it's not worth it.

I seem to recall a poster here on the forums said that elitist attitudes is what makes RMT thrive in FFXI. I seriously am believing this after reading your posts.
