  • TP gain as drk/sam

I heard about the new tp system and decided to try out the new system with /sam with scythe as it seems that high delay = more tp now.

First test yielded the following results on the coffer mobs in Castle Oztroja:

Standard acc build but I used my Chaos Burgeonet instead of my Ohat:

    Weapon: Orihalcum Scythe
    Head: Chaos Burgeonet
    Body: Hauberk
    Hands: Enkelados's Bracelets
    Legs: Thick Breeches
    Feet: Thick Sollerets
    Waist: Life Belt
    Back: Forager's Mantle
    Neck: RG Collar
    Rings: Woodsman

    First swing- TP = 16
    Second swing- TP = 33
    Third swing- TP = 50
    Fourth swing- TP = 67
    Fifth swing- TP = 83
Sixth swing- TP = 100 something

TP returns on Guillot)ine averaged 19-20 tp regained per ws.

So Meditate (five ticks of 12 as /sam) followed by a Guillotine results in this:

TP- 19 from Guillotine (most common tp return during my test)
TP- 31- First tick from meditate
TP- 59- First swing plus second tick of meditate
TP- 71- Third tick of Meditate
TP- 83- Fourth tick of meditate
    TP- 100- Second swing

So following this if you guillotine again before the final tick of meditate:

    You'll end up with:

TP- 31 from the final tick of Meditate plus the TP return from guillotine and following the tp build, you will only need about four more swings for another ws.

    Second test:

Tested this out in a roaming dhalmel pt in Bibiki Bay the other night, pt setup was this:

    War
    Brd
Pld (Did a valiant effort of trying to keep hate off me.)
    Smn
    Whm
    Drk (Me)

Tested this out with sole sushi on a viable exp mob, with march equipped and my added tp gain we were getting consistent chain 5's, I was doing approximately 2-3 guilltoines a fight averaging around 400-500 damage, base swings were averaging between 108-150. Also I noted the Dhalmels were not using their berserk move that often so it gave me a good idea of how the damage would play out.

With the brd giving me and the war march and madrigal I decided to switch to attack food (decided on a meat mithkabob, cheap attack food and a good average to use for my experimenting) this yielded a notable increase in my average damage with WS damage jumping from 500-700 and my swings were about 125-170 with criticals ranging from 280-300.

I was doing more damage and gaining tp faster than the war/nin with his dual axes but since I play on PS2 I couldn't parse it, all I know was that I tended to ws more than him and I instructed him to ws everytime he could so I could judge the tp gain.

    Overall conclusion:

Drk/sam with scythe has become a much more viable sub under the new tp patch and I advise you all to give it a try in a tp burn pt for that is where this shines, this combination is very dangerous, the pld in my pt did his damndest to keep hate and much to his credit he did a pretty good job. He had Cover ready for me whenever I needed it and he managed to keep me alive, this combination will only work with a very skilled pld or nin and it is definitely not for the faint of heart.
Drk 75 War 42 Sam 37 Thf 37 Nin 37 Drg 22 (Next subjob to be leveled)

    Re: TP gain as drk/sam

You know ... I'm pretty skeptical with all these claims about the TP gain. I never noticed the increase in TP at all fighting monsters since the patch. For example, my scythe still reads:

    12
    25
    37
    50
    62
    75
    88
    100

That's 12.5% per hit ... or the same 8 hits to get 100% ~ flat (This is using Martial Scythe)

Anyone care to enlighten me on the possible use of foods or equipment with latent TP storing that might be affecting claims? I never noticed a change with great sword either (Balmung)

      Aeni:
The change was pretty significant. Let's take a typical 528 Delay Scythe (such as Martial Scythe,) and a typical 480 Delay Great Sword (such as Balmung.)

      Scythe
      BEFORE:
      TP gain: 12.6
      Hits to 100 TP: 8
Time to 100 TP: 70.4 seconds
      NOW:
      TP gain: 14.4
      Hits to 100 TP: 7
Time to 100 TP: 61.6 seconds

      Great Sword
      BEFORE:
      TP gain: 12.0
      Hits to 100 TP: 9
Time to 100 TP: 72.0 seconds
      NOW:
      TP gain: 13.0
      Hits to 100 TP: 8
Time to 100 TP: 64.4 seconds

If you have a Rajas Ring, the Store TP +5 would cause you to reach 100 TP in 8 hits with Balmung before the patch, making it look as if there is no difference. However, it wouldn't make a difference with Martial Scythe.
