i've played through CoP as DRK all th way..so far im on 6-4 and used GS for th bulk of it. DRKs are highly useful in 3-5 we all know that. But anyone else think that DRK's are good for CoP? ive been /WAR never /THF or /SAM and have always done good in the DD side of things. i know SAM's are used alot for th DD but ive been in PM's with SAM's and lost.and ive out DD'd them WITH GS..i use Scythe now more since i got Guillotine at 60cap. I've noticed DRK's are great in promyvion since empty are weaker to physical attacks that magic. But everyone keeps sayin: DRK {No, Thanks} when i /t if there's a /sh...like XP PT's ive had to make most of my own PT's >_> can some1 please backme up and tell me DRK's are good and im not just a lucky git...

Re: DRKs in CoP
I'm starting CoP 6 as well. In my CoP static we have 1 drk. most often sub job he use is /whm. only the moblin he /war to help hold the smaller mobs.
So farhe's not bad. Extra DD with MP to heal and stun. I'm really interested to see how helpful he'll be in harder BC like the omega BC that's coming up.There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,
but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence
transform a yellow spot into the sun.

Re: DRKs in CoP
To be honest, DRK is really only "wanted" before 40 since they are the only job that can stun (besides WS..). After that, the people you partied with at 3-5, could care less about you - since they can just get a BLM to stun.
I'm not saying DRK is useless, but like with most other things in the game, people are still going to only be looking for ninja/blm/rdm/brd etc.

Re: DRKs in CoP
alexw, have you tried subbing DRG to your DRK in that Ouryu fight? Next time you get a chance (play around with this combo ahead of time to get a feel for it) sub it and listen to the sound of jaws falling to the floor as you pawn the living daylights out of the NM... it'll make a believer out of anyone.

A Drk's role in CoP would be like any other DD role, except Stun can be very very useful.

Re: DRKs in CoP
Ouryu was pretty easy i guess, my DRG's at 17 cos i chose DRK>DRG but hmmm...i've done ENM's with alot of jobs in promyvion and noticed DRK were kinda better cos DRG's wyverns were dead quickly therefore lost thier main source of power >.> I've been asked to help with 3-5 alot which definatly shows We're used only for that, i was /sh for PM6-4 and got asked to help with 3-5 -.-;; I think DRK's are gd in CoP...better than some jobs but not all so y do DRKs get slagged off alot? >< RNG are kinda better but ive out damaged them in ENMs a fair bit, although i've yet to go into a PM higher than 2-5 with a WAR/NIN...DRK74~Remora

Re: DRKs in CoP
I used (and still do for LS people...) DRK/NIN dual axes for 3-5, but from then on I was always made to go SMN until uncapped. for the fight before sea access I did DRK/THF, made darkness with Spiral Hell with nin, does about 2500+ damage(WS+SC) off the bat. When I did final battle for CoP I went DRK using unlocked Subduer even with THF sub my melee attacks were doing good damage... but everytime we went to SC he'd do physical resist and I did 0 spinning slash >.>

Re: DRKs in CoP
lol so DRKs good in Final boss (original not th new if u kno wot i mean) Gd gd i looked into it and its ring behind its back shows u wot hes resistant too so i'd imagine if u did 2.5K on 7-5 boss u'd do a lot more on 8-4 meanin DRK's are useful for quick killsDRK74~Remora

Re: DRKs in CoP
well, I was with a DRG (>.>) and we were making light for BLM to MB, he'd go wheeling and right after it'd do its physical defense before I could go... but I had to go anyway for BLM >.>
And it wasn't that much always to the airship boss, we would sleep 300% beforehand and open with ten>spiral. After that I'd switch to GS and solo Spinning, which still did a good ~1k at 100% I suppose, his defense is low.

Re: DRKs in CoP
yea i heard...til he uses that riceball or summit..hmm..im convinced now im not gonna lvl SMN or RNG just to do last few PM's (still 6-4 ._.) DRK ftw in CoP! now they're prolly gonna make it so DRK are useless in ToAU arent they? >_>DRK74~Remora

Originally posted by ImpactionI'm not sure what you're talking about. I attempted Ouryu WITH a Dragoon and he rarely intimidated it even with the circle effect up. To be honest it's much easier to do this fight with ranged fighters or with a samurai that doesn't need to deal physical damage to gain TP.

Re: DRKs in CoP
Originally posted by AeniYou don't use the intimidation effect. What you do get is the accuracy bonus and attack bonus which stacks on DRK's attack bonus. The killer trait increases DRK's damage against wyvern. Souleater+jumps = deadly (You can get 300-400 per jump and get TP as well) Stack this with Blood Weapon. Go all out. You can deal so much damage in so little time.DRK74~Remora

Re: DRKs in CoP
I remembered saving this before and posting it on my own LS forum a long time ago. Might as well drag this out of the closet. See the name in the blue? DRK/DRG. There's another DRK in here, DRK/WAR, for comparison's sake.
