  • Strange - how is this done?

    In a video here: http://files.filefront.com/The_REAL_.../fileinfo.html

the dark knight appears to be disengaging and attacking the monster repeatedly and hitting much more often than he would be normally. I know that can't be right, because whenever I disengage it makes me wait a round before I can attack anything.

Is this video just very old, and this has been fixed, or is this person doing something I don't understand?

It's semi old. A recent patch (Maybe 2 months old @ most) fixed it. Before that patch, anyone using one of the higher delay weapons could use that trick to get a delay of 350 I think it was. My number is probably wrong but that trick significantly lowered the delay of 2 handed weapons. Like I said though, a recent patch made that trick null and void.

The main reason to do it used to be that Slow effect did not decrease your engage speed.

i.e. In dynamis-xarcabard, the Demon slow is evil. it's like 1.5x slow, so instead of sitting and waiting the extra 4 seconds to swing, you could disengage and reengage to swing earlier.

They fixed this in that patch before the last one so that you couldn't do this anymore.

An issue wherein the delay between disengaging from an enemy and being able to attack once more not being equal to the delay of the weapon equipped has been addressed.
*This delay is calculated after considering “Haste” and “Slow” effects.
I'm pretty sure if you're still able to do this, that the problem was already reported to SE and by the next patch (or expansion release, whichever applicable) will totally remove that "bug" from the game.

Hence the "used to be able to" part of my post...

            The macro was:

            /attackoff
            /wait 1
            /attack <t>

You hit this as your swing animation began and you would put your weapon away, redraw, and swing again. It was ridiculously overpowered, I was attacking faster than a mnk, the hate factor was a major thing to consider but I tell you, the increased damage output was orgasmic.
