Well, the thing about weapon bash is that your effective range that you can use it is limited to the forward visibility of the monster (I tried using this ja numerous times from the opposite direction on anything outside of spell casting and have pulled a big fat 0% success of about 50 or so attempts which is a pretty significant figure if you asked me) or about ... 60 degrees? (30 on either side of the center line) Even if we are generous and say expand that cone of visibility to about 120 degrees, that's still only 1/3 of the total area of effectiveness of the job ability.
More often than not, if you're setting up SATA, the monster will never be facing you, or SA won't work properly.
However, subbing as any other job, you won't need to worry about that, but you'll need to worry about other things, like forward-facing job abilities that monsters sometimes use. The freeze breath attacks that locks a stun effect of up to 10s is particularly annoying and if you aren't helping the mages by being away from the monster's LoS, then having a ja with a 5min cooldown isn't worth a hill of beans in any situation.
