Dark Scythe cap problem

Ok long story, BUT at the low levels i didn't level scythe due to not liking the damage of low level sycthes and missing alot.
As time went on I forgot to level it. Now I'm level 30 and have shit for scythe skill. What can I do to fix this?
Should I kill myself alot and de-level to 25ish and raise it?should I stay the same level and start killing things in valkurm then quifim? Or should I try to be a BST,get party invites and use a scythe and raise it that way?
PLease help me. I don't wanna be gimped in anyway.

Just grab a good scythe, sub a healng job and go to town on EP -> even mach mobs, that is how i got my Gsword skill up on my pally, because pally dont exactly use Gsword in XP parties.

Well, depending on the level, DRK will have a hell of a time with decent challenges, let alone Even matches.

What I would suggest is to start out in Valkrum Dunes. Stick with Crabs. They do a lot of Def boost skills that help keep them High Def, and you can Drain back a good amount of HP from the every 60 seconds. And with Crabs, you can Aspir back the MP you used.

Crabs in Valkrum can probably take you to skill Lv.70, but that may be pushing it. Qufim Island can be pushed to Lv.85, but you may need a tank to join you for those.

Most weapons you can reach skill Lv.100 in the 2nd Jungle. However how damage weapons may find it a bit of a pain to get those last two points in the jungle. Your higher Atk limits your Easy Prey with High Def mobs.

If you had a Lv.50+ person in your LS who's "power leveling" a weapon for another job, they may be of some help to you. I went and leveled Axe, Dagger, and Great Axe to Lv.100 for later use for subjobs. I've found that it helps out quite a bit actually.

At Lv.34 I decided to stop leveling Great Sword, and I regret it immensely. But I was in a static party that just flew through EXP. I couldn't cap two high delay weapons when it only took us 3 hours to level. So since I didn't learn any new weapon skill at Skill Lv.125, and Scythe did more damage, I dropped Great Sword. Now I'm DRK51, and I'm trying my damnedest to get skill up parties to cap Great Sword. I think I've helped about 15 different parties get G1 items. /sigh

Thanks,for the replies. I'm basically gonna do the valkurm thing except use a weeker sycthe so I can use it for a long time.

try levelling it on lower level crabs that con "high eva" or "high defense" when you have the scythe equipped. That usually means you can get skill off them. Crabs are best for drk because you can drain/aspir.

Try to use a low damage, low delay scythe to speed things up. Maybe find a healer who needs to do low level skillup as well.

You could also level scythe with a BST job ... just a thought. ;3

Yeah that WAS my grand plan before asking. I wasted my whole weekend time(not my whole weekend just my ff time) leveling BST to 10. I HATE BST. either way it seemed like a good idea till i realized beasts suck at fighting without a beast, and its rare for them to get invites.at least it was for me

Yeah, I know. I had a BST I invited once when I was in a partial static in the dunes. A more experienced player advised me not to because the BST 'probably had his seeking flag up by mistake'. Was very surprised that said BST accepted the pt offer.

i had to lvl scythe up a bit because i got carried away with GS to about 50..yes i was that stupid. lvl1-100 go to Upper Delkfutts, gets fast til round 80 but i hit 100 there Altepa's great (outside Rabao off spiders) Farm/skillup/NPC levelin, its fun and you can make a bit of money doing so. then 130-190 go to kuftal tunnel. In the end you'll only end up using Guillotine for around 6 levels b4 ur required to make Light or you dont get invited. Glad i did lvl GS cos i get /t>{Party} {do you need it?} {Spinning Slash} {Do you hav it?}

i really hate GS, and so i'm lvl 50 DRK with a lv 8 GS skill, and that was because i used the chaosbringer to get the DRK job. (also took my war to lvl 5 that day XD)

so i need to start lvling up not only my GS but my thf too... stupid lvl 60 gs/thf crap.

As RDM, I have to look forward to having these subjobs up to par:
BLM, BLU, WHM, BRD, SMN, DRK, NIN

Even as a DRK, I wanted to have these as well:
WAR, THF, DRG, NIN, RDM, BLM, WHM

So... you *having* to only level two subjobs is much less complicated than the picture I paint myself in.

oh i'm not saying there arnt worse things out there
i mean, i'd also like to have SAM THF NIN WAR lvl'd for my DRK
and then you have to have subjobs for your subjobs and its just a pain some times XD

i'm really thinking about starting over. and i sort of did with a second char. i didn't realize all the crap i went to to get to where i'm at.

like a weird trip down memory lane...just now i'm not 3 foot tall i'm 7 XD
