Could at least keep all your questions in one thread since they are all focused on learning about drk x_x You're gonna need both eventually, but I'm a fan of multiple weapons. great sword and scythe don't even touch great axe for drk in the early levels. So I would go with that. But if forced to choose between scythe and great sword I'll pick scythe. You're still gonna need both leveled, so try to level up both in your lower levels if you can.

You can use any weapon at the begginning of DRK. (Scythe reccomended.) But when you start earning experience with others, you tend to use Gswords and Scythes because they deal more damage than the other weapons. DRKs job is to deal damage as much as possible. This is what I'd do; 1-10 Scythe. 10-66 Gsword or Scythe. 66-75 Gsword because of Spinning Slash. Also, you have to skill-up your weapons while you're playing. Different people require different WS's to perform different SC's.

I find myself liking GS alot.. But it is smart to switch between scythe and gs alot.. Try to keep em capped so you wont do much lvling of either one. It's tough but whatever gets the job done right?

i would imagine, soul eater + last resort + rampage would be a monster of a distortion closer.

Before I ever leveled DRK, I leveled Scythe and Great Sword with WAR. I made sure both of them were at Lv.30 before I gained a single EXP point with DRK.

I believe I used a cheapo Scythe up to DRK5. I had already upgraded to my Deathbringer, and then I used that to about Lv.12. That extra Atk+8 on it helped big time for getting to Lv.10 in an afternoon. Was fast and easy.

I leveled both weapons to about Lv.34. My static had no problem with it, and I the skillchain wasn't effected at all. Well at Scythe Lv.125 you learn Spinning Scythe, and nothing for Great Sword Lv.125. So that's why I stopped leveling Great Sword. I also liked the higher damage on Scythe. So now I'm DRK51, and begging my LS to put together Great Sword Skill Up parties for my now Great Sword Lv.135. I can't really level DRK when I only have Scythe to offer.

So learn from my mistake. Level both weapons.

B Side posted once long ago (even before war/nin was so popular) about the success of this combo -- especially between levels 56(when drk can learn rampage) and 60 (when Guillotine is hot). Particularly because any accuracy lost from the lower skill rating is made up by having Vikings. If I ever level drk, I'll definately go that route.

Yeah DRK/NIN with dual Vikings (or other axes later) rock Ballista hardcore. You might almost kill yourself doing it, but a Souleater, Last Resort, Rampage to the face of somebody will take them down. I've played Ballista with my DRK in this way and it pwned. If you open a fight with that in Ballista, your shadows can cover the opponent's swings until they're finished (you drop Souleater after Rampage). Quite nice actually.

I like all the weapons, actually. Each one has different strengths and merit to them. I like sword the least (although Ridill .. mmm) and maybe axe the second least (but Rampage ftw, so whatever) I like Greataxe a lot, weird, I know. I was fooling around once with my superbly underleveled Gaxe skill on decent con buffaloes recently and was suprised that with my Bhuj, I was doing criticals as high as 230sh ... (Although normal damage still sucked, but we were group farming/skilling up so I didn't care)

Yeah, DRK are pretty nice with most weapons, surprisingly similar to WARs. Although when it comes to the average situation, Swords, Axes, and Great Axes all loose their shine in comparison to Scythe and Great Sword. Swords are nice for HNM simply for Spirits Within, Axes seem best in Ballista from what I've seen, and G. Axes are nice in their respective situations as well (their Break line of WSs comes in handy, especially when subbing SAM). Plus, and this may be just me, the G. Axes have always looked killer when used by a DRK (but then again, they look killer used by WARs too XD). The options spice things up for DRK none-the-less. People don't realize that DRK is actually quite versatile :D

I'm a fan of the great sword. It's just as strong as the scythe because it swings faster and hardly misses, and the weapon skills are great for whatever levels you get them at.
