Just really dissappointed at the racism people automatically assume when forming a PT. I was LFG in Jeuno two nights back and checked to see how many others were looking as well. Dismayed I find 2 other 53 DRKs looking as well. A mithran and a hume. I am elvaan. So I check for their search comments and both had none.

I happened across the mithran and her gear was plain awful (I mean to the point that they were not going to do much damage and become a leech.) She checks me back and comments nice gear (bone scythe +1, dual snips, valk mask, life belt, RK hands and feet, jaeger mantle.) and we chat a bit.

I check on the list again and see the hume is missing and do a /sea all to find he was in Boyhada Tree in a PT.

The mithran then says take care and good bye as she has gotten a PT too.

Fantastic...

I spent 40 more minutes LFG before getting invite.

It's sad to see that everyone relies on what race you are instead of actually checking search comments or going against the forums' hype about elvaan sucking so much.

I've seen this happen a great deal before so it's not just this once. Also I am a VERY nice and good player. My equipment is ALWAYS the best I can get (I know, skill>equip>race just giving all my info), using sushi (squid and sole) I always get complimented on how well my DRK performs (not missing much and connecting for high damage as well as skillchaining without messing it up.

no, I'm not. This is a recurring theme I've been seeing. I'm not mad, just disappointed that on a weekend I am sitting for hours on end LFG while others spent >1 hour to get a PT and they are not elvaan.

I was chatting to another elvaan DRK and he confirmed he had been LFG for 1.5 hours while others at his lvl were invited.

well im levelling up my Drk now so I know how it feels like took me 9 hours today to get a PT and guess what my leader is a rank1 gilseller who just goes AFK the whole time we hunt.

I'm a taru so you know, if ppl really are racist, im in a worse position.

People who complain about groups don't realize how bad it was early on after NA release. I went a week without groups sometimes because of utter lack of players at my level and I couldn't speak Japanease.

Also, you don't know the situation those people were in. A friend could have invited them (Edit: just read the reply you made to Jei, leaving what I wrote). People don't just invite based on your gear, in fact' I've found that gear has very little bearing at times. If someone has a good reputation, I would take them over a person I know very little about and has good gear.

I mentioned that it is skill>equip you must have missed that in your hurry to complain about your initial problems ^^. The DRK I was talking about was wearing COURAGE RINGS, wolf mantle, AF hands and feet, warrior's belt and Falcastra. Now TELL me again how he wasn't equipmentally gimped with that ish at 56. I was in Boyhada later that night and got a /t from a friend saying that some DRK in his PT was missing on almost every swing. Guess who it was.

Yup!, I should have though more about that post. But, im incredibly bored at work right now. You didn't leave enough intial information on how bad her gear was, I was thinking she was just in ~non +1 and a few pieces of gear that are 10 levels outdated.

But Falcastra... isnt that the piece of crap from the Eldimne Treasure Chest?

I think so. All i know is that it's something like 15 lvls below his current lvl.

I didn't mean to come off upset at you, just the game (I'm windowed right now) is irritating me. It's become a game of whoever grabs the RDM first gets a PT cause looking at the LFG list I could make a PT 3 times over, but without RDM no one would stay.

As far as gear goes, at lvl 56 DRK I expect you to have at least some ACC gear and your weapon within 5 lvls unless it is uber. I go above and beyond to build a good rep for playing well and being equipped well. I have a Haub already waiting for when I DING!59

Leveling DRK to 37 to sub on RDM was pure hell for me, as far as getting good groups. I didnt find I got passed up for groups because of race, but then again things change a lot from the 20's and 30's to 56+. Instead I would always get scooped up by some noob group and party forever to get my level.

I was decked out too. Since my Taru STR wasnt spectacular and my weapon of choice (Great Sword) was kinda slow, I relied on a Crossbow and bolts to do a large part of my damage and gain TP. Maybe this isnt an option at higher levels, but it helped me quite a bit. I had really good gear as well, IMO, probably the best available at those levels.

When I finally got it to 37 I vowed I would never level DRK again. It was just too frustrating. I have a lot of respect for people who leveled jobs like DRK, MNK, DRG, SAM, WAR to high levels. It's not easy.

naaa JEI this is the way of the drk. sadly everything he says is basically what happens from drk na release. an still to this very day. 1. it doesnt matter your gear selection. ( at the time i had pallas bracelets, an a huab. an what ever other top gear a drk could get. an yet i still struggled to get invites or make pts. while i was getting passed up by drks in half af, an half dino armor. with beetle earring,a n balance rings at 60. 2 misconception. rarely does anything you say in your search comment get you invites. infact most times it hurts you. too close to a lvl, players feel your bragging with gear/stats. the list goes on an on. 3 please no " make your own pts" because 1 sever is different from another. yes you should try, but alot of times, you just have to rely on a replacement invite..

too the original poster. if you love drk you must be willing to go weeks without invites, you must be willing to get looked over for a million reasons. because like some have said. its happened in the past an it will continue to 75. just remember to be humble. when players tell you you did good. always compliment them even if they blew monkey balls. an always admit, you got alot of room to improve.

Very well said. It gives me encouragement knowing I am not the only one noticing this trend with DRK and DRG. It's sad as I get a TON of compliments (I remember being in a PT and the TT RDM was like "OMFG yer keeping TP up with RNG almost (he wasn't arrow spamming, but he was keeping a good pace.) and yer damage is sick." It was nice to see someone recognize the misconception of elvaan DRKs. I'll be honest, elvaan DRK suck if not properly equipped or fed or 'spell supplied' properly. The next fight when I throw out an ABS-Dex he almost had to change his drawers he was shocked I had it (It is EXTREMELY uncommon to see DRK with abs-dex I guess...). I just wish that in the long run it would actually help me get into PTs faster, but sadly everyone overlooks and moves on to one of the other DD classes.

I love the job and the whole atmosphere of it all. It'll be the first job I take to 75, however long it may take, it's just disappointing that I will have to work my @$$ off while some RNG will do half the amount of LFG in order to get to where I am.

And yea lol it was really hell before. I went 2 weeks seeking without PT at lvl 54. At which point I made my own PT's till I hit lvl 71 and focused more on hnms. Pretty funny, got adaman hauberk abj at lvl 72 XD and lvled my ass off that night to get lvl 73.


From what i've seen and experienced there is almost an order in which you get invites.

Person A: will get invite if he has good equipment.

Person B: will get invite over Person A if he knows what he's doing and has decent gear.. even if it can just barely get him/her by.

Person C: will get invite over A and B if they are known and are easily made friends with people.


Person ABC: is laughing cause he's smart enough to make a static PT.



Also notice that some people will pick jobs also on the order that they come on the /sea list. G'luck if your on the later end of the alphabet.

I personally know that gear makes no difference. I competed with Swiyat to be first NA taru drk to 75. Haubergeon since lvl 60 and he got hauberk at 70 or 71 i believe. He did beat me to 75 first though ; ; Now probably the only thing I have over him is Alkyoneous bracelets lol, both in 4/5 cursed adaman.

sorry i cant by inot this being the reasons why. if you actually want your drk to get too 75 fast you need to do 3 things.

1. play a chick char. an act like a female as well. ive known some pretty crappy girls playing this game. stupid subs, not only that they were under lvled. with sub par gear. it didnt matter because the males of FFXI were all thinking with their "other head".

2. make your own pts/static pt.

3. the most important thing is "TIMING". seriously it alwasy seems like you need to be on almost the whole day to catch a break. my friend just took his dark from 65-67. an he was barely 65. while i on the otherhand spent the day at the beach with the G/F. its sad how much time you must devote to get anywhere in this game.

lol an if anyone tells you that you dont have to put your RL on hold to exp is a liar.. or just has a static pt.... :p
