I have noticed in-game and on the forums that high level hnm ls etc camp fafnir and other gods (Tulia and so on).

Well I have a very valid question, at the leet levels Drk's are required to have Items like the balmung and aspire to getting damascus ingot drops etc for adman hauberk etc . I know and respect that these are very high level goals but how the hell are aspiring drk's ever going to into an allience so organised that it can steal the mobs from the hnm ls who camp these things all day and night.


Is there some kind of application method to get into these Ls or will they always be there to stop other player getting the most out of the game

Getting into an HNM Shell, can take luck, good reputation, contacts, friends etc.

Or make your own and work hard to build it up. If you make your own though, I recomend creating a sky LS first and getting richer and more experience on Gods and Kirin. Getting things like Nobles Tunics and Osodes from Sky certainly helps.

You are not really required to have certain items, its nice if you do.. but really its at the point where even those that do that have nice items by farming or gil buying online (death to you people), wont get into HNM shells.

You can certainly farm for Balmung if need be.

If you are talking about damascus ingot for haubergeon/hauberk that can be farmed also, or damascus ingot from Kindred BCNM, if you cant get an HNM shell.

Adaman Hauberk on the other hand... is a different story. Nidhogg is the only thing that drops abjuration for Adm. Hauberk. And the cost for the synth isn't exactly cheap. 3 adaman ingots and a hauberk is what costs the most from the synth. Just hope you dont break the synth XD.

Different shells have different methods of applying, I know many shells have websites and such for their LS. Or by contacting a LS leader/mod of the LS ingame. Of course certain LS' have lvl requirements for entrance, and could be only looking for certain jobs, or are completely full.

if the only reason you want to join a Sky / HNMLS is to get gear and or become rich then stop playing right now because odds are you'll get burned out / become bitter @ the whole HNM thing. the best reason to join / start a HNM / Sky LS is just to have fun because few people get everything they want out of an LS and thoes that do spent many many hrs and lost alot of sleep to get it.

Not neccesarily, there are those HNM LS' that are extremely good at what they do, and actually are there for the items and also to have fun. IMO those are the best HNM LS' because they are always trying to do everything. It's a LOT of fun to go hardcore on HNM's at times, especially new HNM like the new CoP Dragons etc.

When done getting gear for your first job, basically start planning your gear for 2nd job and 3rd job+

i was wonder about the drops because i see that there are few HNM Ls on Alexander, so it seems that I may find it hard to get into an HNm Ls.

And No, I do not play this game for the cash, items etc. I just wanted to know how I could in theory become part of an Hnm ls or indeed managed to actually get enough ppl in jeuno to respond to (at a later level)

If indeed I cannot get into a hnm ls, I can only be an average drk with some above average gear. See why i ask?
I want to be an above average drk. Life in FFXI isn't that easy though.

<Please note I am level 51 so i do indeed have a long wait till i am elligible for any of this stuff, but I need to know ahead of time so i can work towards it>

heh 300k for a fafnir drop eh? i think a ls on our server charges like 10M.

I've seen LS' sell Black Belt items to MNK's for 1mil. Also seen LS' give things like Hrotti free. And things like Hecatomb Cap too, cause its a very common drop from Fafnir.


But paying say 300k for a non rare/ex item that could be sold on AH for much more is probably not going to happen. Unless your paying 300k for an abjuration from Fafnir it could work.

You'l get an hnm ls eventually if alexander is anything like garuda...we have like 90 hnms ls's. But even if u do get an HNM ls some items u want will still probably be out of reach, unless ur in like...one of the best hnm ls's on the server.
