worry about it when your 66 JUST LIKE ALMOST EVERY DRK IN THE GAME (you will probably quit before then anyways)

I got my GS from a skill of 60 to 200 in about 3 weeks when I was 60...but it's a blur as to how nowadays

Put together a skillup party. Find a PLD that wants to level up Staff for later use, and skill up that way. You should be able to go some place and find evens that would help you out with those. Just select your mobs very well.

I've gone on a few of these, and have found that it's super slow. But it can be fun. Once I have fully leveled WAR I'll try again. Having Double Attack will help out big time.

I did about the same thing you did. At Lv.34 I found that it took me the entire level to cap Scythe. Since Scythe did more damage then Great Sword, I scrapped Great Sword and went with Scythe ever since. Then I did some research and found about my need for Great Sword. Now I regret what I did.

I believe my Scythe skill is Lv.155 (I believe 157 is the cap for Lv.51) and my Great Sword skill is Lv.118 I believe.

I read the boards beforehand, so I was able to trade off both weapons from an early time to keep both of them as levelled as possible. Around levle 50 you will have time to catch up.

With the great difference in your skill levels, using the GS in an EXP party would not be a good idea for you. As you have tons of time until 66, just level it as you can and use the scythe in your EXP parties. Around 50 there will be a ton of people that need help with AF gear and lvl 50 cap items. Offer to help them out and use that to skill up your GS. It will fly in places like Eldiemme Necropolis.

              Good Luck

I had planned to do that. However some big favors were called in to get me my papyrus. Lv.73 PLD and a Lv.70 DRG. I was told to sit at the entrance because I'd just end up dead where they were going. They both actually dropped down to 100 or less HP. (PLD, as I recall, had like 1,300HP) So I just sat there, chatting with my LS as they did all the work. Good for me, but no skill ups for me either.

My GS is 139 and it has been about a week since I have been able to get a skill up party. My ls is fairly lazy and almost every coffer group I go in almost gets me killed ><. No pure skill up parties either. No way I want to lvl DRK past 60 without sickle moon.

my gs was at 106 when i hit lvl 60. so i teamed up with a pld friend of mine and we did beadeux to 115, then crawlers nest to 125. we grabbed 2 more people and did beetles in CN, shouted out offers to get mold for people, so we made a little gil too. at 135, i just started joining any coffer pt's i could find. i got the best skill ups doing garliage skill up. castle o and CN had ok skill ups, but garliage went quicker. when i got to 155, i went to boyhada tree and killed crabs and crawlers with 3 other people and got it to 190. at that point, it was high enough to us in exp pt's and i got it caught up so when i hit 66, i got spinning slash pretty quick.

if it gets annoying and you feel like giving up on gs, let me tell you, DON'T! spinning slash is awesome. if you look at some websites that break down the dmg of ws, you will see that ss has one of the highest damage modifiers in the game. i was helping some people do coffer key the other day and my pld friend was with me. he was doing spirit taker and i was doing spinning slash. now's he working on gs because he wants that ws too. it rocks.

Yeah, as far as all the weapons and how they skill up. Scythe and Great Sword seem to be two of the slowest to level, I think Great Katana even levels faster then those two.

Anyway to skill up fast you have to find that right balance, usually fighting monsters like Easy Prey. For those two weapons skilling them up faster seems like fighting the bigger mass monsters help out more. Monsters like Giants, Magic Pots, Golems, Crabs, things along those lines.

Fighting flies, bats, birds, and other smaller monsters seems to level those combat skills slower.

Try get a skill up pt and go kuftal tunnel in the lizzard room, that place should be very nice for your skill atm. You can get up to 200 GS in that place. While you at it you can also make some moneys if Amemet pop and you kill it.

What did you kill in the Citadel? I went at Lv.51 trying to do some catch up. Hoping to get both of them caught up by Lv.53. My skill is Lv.118. We were fighting bats and beetles. (On the first level) But skills weren't rising very fast. Perhaps we were leveling on the wrong things.

i was killing weapons and tainted flesh doing coffer keys. at 51, i wouldn't try it though. really, you don't need gs till 66, although, sickle and crescent moon are way better than scythe ws too, if you can't use the weapon in an exp pt, just hold tight and wait a bit. it sucks doing it later, but it will be eaiser. also, using zweihander as your gs is nice because it has low delay making skill up better.
