Sub's change dependant on which HNM you fight and what your PT/alliance needs.

Gods are pretty easy, that it doesnt really matter. War sub for double attack for faster tp, Sam sub for even faster TP gain, or Thf sub for a decent WS dmg to end off Light/Dark for a Magic Burst is good. Nin sub even if you want if you like spirits within so much.

For things like Faf/hogg Thf sub isn't needed. You dont want to be causing a Spike Flail now do you XD "***** takes 2000 points of damage". Or like KB, you can run around using Spirits Within and have Nin Sub or Sam sub or War sub would still be ok.

Non King HNM are too easy that you don't really need to have a specific sub. Unless you need it because you lack certain jobs or whatever.

You can do 1000 dmg Crossreaper and get about 500-600 Distortion if lucky. I've never seen it possible to get a full 100% Distortion (ie. 1000+1000). However with lvl 3 renkei's it is possible.
the final renkei damage is dependent on both the level of the skillchain and the number of weaponskills preceding it.

you can get 100% unresisted renkei damage on a level 2 by having 3 other weaponskills before the final one to close the level 2 renkei (say it was distortion... to set it up you'd need to do something like Tachi: Yukikaze > Penta Thrust > Sidewinder > Sickle Moon).

if you watch a SAM doing a long 2hr chain (i'm talking all 5 possible weaponskills) they will get a much bigger final renkei bonus than is normally possible, and this is because they precede a big renkei with a lot of smaller ones.

level 3 weaponskills only need one preceding skill in order to reach the 100% renkei bonus, which is why you can get away with shorter chains the higher level you are.

in theory you could end up with 100% doing purely level 1s (need all 6 pt members to do one and keep the chain going) but because the skills and chains themselves are relatively weak alone, having 100% renkei damage at the end isn't going to be particularly huge.

i managed to convince a G1 papyrus hunting pt to try and make a huge level 3 renkei by doing Circle Blade > Tachi: Hobaku > Circle Blade > Hexa Strike and the final renkei damage was pretty reliably 200% of the final skill damage (hexa was doing 600-700ish, level 3 light chain was always over 1000 and at times got up to nearly 1400). the Liches died nearly instantly, and if not either myself or the WHM would burst holy for 250+ each time which would always kill it.

of course with the strong 3-melee / 3-mage party setup this is sometimes difficult to achieve except in larger alliance situations, but it is something to think about when the monsters you're fighting become VT-low IT and don't have particularly nasty AoE attacks that they spam.

Dagon, coming from your other posts on this forum it seemed that you knew everything when it came to being Drk and the whole Drk scene of things...

King HNM = "HQ" versions of the HNM's.

They are Nidhogg, King Behemoth, Aspidochelone mainly. The new dragons are also pretty hard so personally I would consider them kings too. All the gods, maybe with the exception of byakko at times, are easy. This includes Kirin and his Stonega4 and Stone 5's XD

Fuzzbox is probably right about the renkei bonus damage, I dont do too many 3+ man renkei's to ever realize the difference.

I have a kind of off topic question, but how hard is Amikiri? I'm just curious because rarely do I ever hear of people fighting him. I hear he's for sure harder than Serket (not that it's saying much). Any info anyone could provide on a fight with him? I hear that a good pull is one of the most important things in the fight because of all the skeleton aggro in the area it spawns or something.
