At 73 my avg swings on weapons in Ro'maeve is about 90-120/130. I just find weapons easy to do damage against, just hate AoE stun.. I try stunning as many whirl of rage's as possible cause it slows down chains ; ;.
Now that you mention that, I did notice my max hits where definitely higher on the weapons (I guess drk gets dmg bonus again arcana /cheer), compared to the tiger/cocks in kuftal or golems in (sky). I did remember seeing mine also go up to 120-130, but more or less hovered around 100 for the most part in Ro'Meave. I kinda gave up on stunning all whirl's, except while its chain time. Just when my partner is about to go (like 1 sec before he hits macro), I'd start looking to time a stun for when the mob just finished using an attack (well this is always true anyway ) and that would give me the time needed to get my sata spin off w/o a hitch. I did the same for golems and it worked pretty well for me (wasn't 100% on either mobs though ) but you get the idea.
Oh yeah, wanted to emphasize what a difference macroing in +str made to spin damage, I wish I figured that out much sooner XD
I can bet you almost anything that that minimum is because he missed Sneak Attack. If sneak attack is messed up on Spinslash expect "low" damage like that. Usually without Sneak attack its around 500-600 damage.
Ive seen a few still use Nagan, currently on Midgardsormr Balin's and Balmung are just about tied in price (around 2mil) and Nagan (being synthed) is around 1.5mil or so. Nagan IMO is nice cause it's a blue blade. It really does look good and goes nice with Adaman Hauberk look, but stat wise I find it is lacking. +2 dex doesn't do too much. I'd prefer Balmungs +acc and +atk over Nagan stats. Just that unique blue blade is cool :p

I had a different PT doing Moblins in Bibiki Bay too, I didnt get shots of that but since gobs have lower Def, I was getting normal hits for 140+ on them and all my Spinslashes were 1100+ with one in the 1400's at around 150-200%
