  • question about damage

    ok im 42 and i was noticing something the other day that my criticals and SA was not doing more then 210 pts of damage on lvl 20 mobs. so i went outside windy aand deciced to SA a bumblebee well for some reason it only did 210 pts of damage so my question is. is there a limit per lvl on the amout of damage that you can do. the only time i can do more is with WS and abilities thx for any answers

      criticals seem to have a set max amount. an thats based on some math. but i think my max critical is 289 highest... these are on most mobs that are worthwhile to me.

        it's called damage caps. there's no set cap number, but your damage levels off so that you won't be dealing insane numbers to low level mobs.

          I'm going to assume that "monsters" don't have these caps. I know for certain that I still can't walk up to a lvl 17 mob and hit it for close to 400 damage like say... the Sea Horror... it's just not fair. /cry

                if you get more ATK the red area range will go up
                same with the blue area and STR you dont need to be genuis to understand simple thing :p

                  Actually, I already know how all of that works, however if I didn't have prior knowledge, I don't think that chart would have tought me anything.

                  This has made me wonder though... maybe melee would be better in HNM fights or for soloing if these same damage caps were applied to mobs as well? Well, then agian, beign that the HNM is much higher in lvl, I don't know how that helps the melee hit harder, but maybe the melee would take less damage.

                    Heh depends on the HNM.

                    There are easy HNM's that can be taken down with ease however most HNM's now have a much harder counter part that may spawn in it's place.

                    King Behemoth, Nidhogg, Aspidochelone etc. (actually Fafnir is pretty hard too >.>) Most of the time melee's are there to look good and thing you're helping the alliance kill it :p

                    Aspidochelone for example, each of my swings hits for about 0-10 damage. Only when I can Souleater + WS do I see any decent damage; and even with that it's only about 500-600ish damage. WS every 5 Min. (for Souleater). This reason is also why so many people like to do Spirits Within, and Sub Sam or Opo necklace Sleep potion their TP.

                    Killing those hard HNM's depends on you're refreshers, how good you're tanks are and backup tanks, and how many Whms ands Blm's you have. Blm's are what take down HNM's.

                    Sam's are actually pretty good in God fights though, cause they meditate till 100%.
