  • Accuracy...

    For a change of pace, I decided to level DRK for a while. I went and bought the best equips available (for the most part) so at level 13 I equipped my Burning Claymore, and level 14 I had Plantreaper available. I also equipped 2 +1 DEX rings, and was going to equip battle gloves till I realized DRK cant equip them ><;

Anyway, I'm a taru, so my damage isnt huge, but I figure my accuracy should be decent. Thing is, in a pt last night, an Elvaan DRG was hitting with much more accuaracy than me, even at the same level. I /checked him, and the only difference I could see was he had Battle Gloves (+3 acc) and 2 Balance Rings (+2 DEX each) where I had no battle gloves and +1 DEX rings. I missed a lot, and it was getting frustrating.

Can anyone recommend anything? I really like DRK, so I plan on playing it for a while, thus I dont' mind putting in the money. When I log in tonight, I'm going to buy a pair of Balance Rings, and anything else +DEX or Acc that I can find for my level (now 16)

Also, I'm trying to switch back and forth between GS and Scythe to keep them both capped, but I'm finding GS to just be much better. It hits with more consistency, and the Weaponskills are better (so far)

    Thx in advance.

I've gotten my DRK up to lvl 25. Below lvl 20, my accuracy just totally sucked so I bought some ACC enhancing items. They seemed to work for a while, then when I hit lvl 24 I traded all the accuracy stuff in for Attack enhancing items(beetle earrings+1, tiger stole, etc). While my damage increased, my accuracy didn't seem to decrease. Is it possible that as you gain more lvls there is a shift in your ability to hit?

I would trade off STR and DEX for acc items anyday but unfortunatly at level 14-15 there really are not any +acc items for a dark knight and as for your question of how the drg was hitting more and doing more dmg the fact is they have a passive job trait that lets them be a good melee for a little while until you can get your snipers and other various gear at 40+ to help put drgs outta a job.

You're a DRK.... you have shitty accuracy. Just accept it. Nothing you can do.

          LOL

I have no problem accepting it...

My problem is that I've been fighting IT's with my DRK for 1 day, which is hardly enough time to come to the conclusion that, simply put "DRK has shitty accuracy".

If they have trouble hitting targets so be it, I'll deal with it. I just wasnt aware of that problem, since I mostly played mage jobs or THF.

Thanks for the input guys, I'll do what I can to get as much acc and dex as possible.

I bought the Amethyst Rings for leveling my THF, and since the THF has naturally high Dex, I was cheap and decided not to go with the expensive Balance Rings. Now, it appears I need them so I will splurge.

Oh, and money was a factor when I was leveling thf too, I had limited funds, but now I have lots of gil to invest in good equips.

if you have the money, buy leaping boots, and ve pin at 24. That's roughly 3 acc. Plus, isn't there a 20+ gs that raises acc? braveheart maybe? (sorry i play thf, i don't know much about big weapons ^^)

Ya I plan on getting the Braveheart at level 18, which gives a nice accuracy bonus. Leaping boots are a little out of my budget... I don't want to be totally broke. If I planned on playing a melee job from now on, I would invest in them, but I'm still primarily a RDM (need to buy Dark staff soon)

Actually from what i can tell lvling off other melee jobs, is that all melee jobs has about the same acc. except drgs becuz they get a passive buff, or mnk and war who gets the acc abilities. Its just that the weapons delay is so slow that when u miss a hit u feel it more unlike mnk which i have lvled up till 60 now they get 2 hits one round so if they miss one hit and land the other one it would be ok also there delay is lower. Just my opinnion ^^.

This may be lame, but are your weapon skills capped? IIRC it wasn't until 15 when I had my scythe and gswd capped. That might be messing with your acc too.

It seemed that way to me too, although I prefer G.Sword over Scythe anyway.

One question I had which was on my mind that past 2 weeks about attack, just forgot about it.

When I equip my sword, which has less damage and less delay(ie. 37dmg 405 Delay) it game me alot more ATTACK then the scythe which had alot more damage and more delay(ie. 48dmg 480 delay)

I tried this with 3 weapons each over the course of the past 2 weeks(I always carry both) and noticed the difference is bigger, after I take food, I use chief kabobs.

                        What am I missing?

They aren't capped, because I keep switching back and forth so that one isnt way more than the other. Right now they are both at 47, and I'm level 16. I'm not sure what scyth and GS cap at for 16, but I think I'm close.

                            16 Cap is 51..

So your missing ~3 acc and 3 attack..

ATK is only dependent on these things:
                            1. Your STR
                            2. Your skill with the weapon
                            3. Any other ATK Bonuses from Items, Job, Abilities, food

So if the weapons have no modifiers, then I'd say your skill with one of the weapons is higher then the other. Each point of skill gives you 1 more ATK.
