Something I didn't know about ABS- spells

I had no idea that abs- spells overwrote mob debuffs.

I.E. yesterday we were partying in cape terrigan and started getting hit with str down status from the crabs. The pld was using earth staff to decrease damage taken, so I figured I'd cast abs-str to make it even less. Low and behold, abs-str overwrote the str. down, so i went from like -10 str to +13. Weird, huh?

Yeah. When you fight Crabs or other mobs that cause "down" effects, its always good to hold off on that specific absorb spell until the mob uses that ability. Make it habit, it really helps. At least with the crabs it does.

It seems to me that sometimes using the ABS later in a fight is better anyway because it has a better chance of sticking...

...at least from my experience.

yeah, I also noticed that. Something else to mention is things like Evasion Increase that mobs like Beatles special on themselves, you can cast absorb-agi before the RDM casts Dispel and it will stick easier.

Dunno about Absorb-DEX haven't gotten it yet ><.

I was told by a high level dark knight awhile back to never buy Absorb-DEX. She had said that, in her experience, she had a horrible time getting Absorb-DEX to stick rendering the spell useless. It's still puzzling to me as to why Absorb-DEX would be harder to stick than the other Absorb spells which have no problem sticking.

ABS-Dex doesn't seem to stick less in my opinion, but it's definitely worth holding off on buying it before getting, say, a pair of Sniper's Rings, since it doesn't stick consistently enough (at least against IT mobs) to make it worth the price tag straight off.

Definitely comes in useful against high Evasion mobs though, to improve your hit rate, but it's always worth casting ABS-Agi before ABS-Dex since ABS-Agi improves the whole party's hit rate, ABS-Dex just helps yours.
