Um, ok...who cares whos the best damage dealer in the game???
DRK, MNK, BLM, RNG are all great damage dealers, ONLY if the people know what they doin... each job is different, and i wanted to be a DRK for the damage, and i realized that they dont do the MOST damage, but unlike Rangers, that dont have to buy overly expensive arrows, and unlike black mages(wait... im not insultin them...they rock...alot d(^-^)b ...heh) , they dont have to worry about MP as much (yeah they have Magic but we know that they do nice damage with there scythe..or whatever weapon) Oh and.... Drks are so much cooler lookin than MNKs

oh and MeleeFighterFF if you came here just to argue about how MNKs do more damage than DRKs, then well...thats pretty stupid

I've only read the first couple pages of this, but heres my opinion.

Monk DOES outdamage Dark Knight on most mobs, not just bones. Just like Ranger outdamages Monk. If a Monk isn't outdamaging a Dark Knight, then he has shitty equipment (of course lots of DRKs have horrible equipment too). Monk should be doing more raw, consistent damage than any other melee, on ALL mobs.

DRKs make up for it in other places. They can turn on Soul Eater for massive instant damage - used at the right times it can help alot in taking down mobs quickly, EXP chaining, etc.... Magic Bursting with Drain does respectable damage as well, and saves the WHM's MP. Absorb spells help the whole PARTY - remember, it's not a competition to do the most individual damage (if you've partied with a good Samurai you'd know this).

Many people say Samurai are gimped, their normal attacks certainly aren't anything special, and their weapon skill damage is also mediocre. However, if you've ever been in a party with a Samurai and 2 black mages, it's an awesome sight to behold. He can skillchain with the Tank and the damage dealer in a single fight, double magic burst off each skillchain brings the mob down in no time at all...

And finally, to the noob who started the thread and said Beastmaster's suck, guess you've never seen a good, high level BST. We will outdamage pretty much anyone if we have the right pet. We can also participate in skillchains ourselves, and our damage is respectable. Of course we're not all-mighty - without a pet we're a gimped Warrior, sometimes a good pet isn't available, we have to use broths and lose EXP.

And finally, I'm sick of DRKs thinking they're so 'uber'. You do good damage, Soul Eater is nice, but it's not the most damaging class. It's a very useful class, and every party could use a good DRK, I'm sure many of you have outdamaged the scores of gimped Monks out there (I have never partied with a Monk who could outdamage my Monk, which is pretty sad since I don't even have the best equipment), but theres also many very good Monks out there. I've been in good parties without a DRK or Monk, and still pulled 5000+ EXP/hour... Every class has it's use.

accuracy and speed are kings.

while fortunately for drk, they have access to the best +acc items in the game... they're somewhat handicapped in that good +acc items are some of the most expensive items around, and that their base accuracy seems pretty poor.

and unfortunately for dark, they're one of the slowest fighters around as well. For shame!

Meanwhile, monks get access to most of the significant accuracy+ items that drk has (sniper rings, lifebelt (most use brownbelt tho), and even spectacles), while having a huge edge over drks in terms of speed, which just gets bigger with more levels.

and with Square-Enix's somewhat poor class balancing skills, well its no suprise that one damage dealer is obviously better (whereas rangers aren't: you have to throw money at mobs for damage) than the other... even taking into account the versatility of the darks magic and skills.

that said.. maybe they have indeed one-upped all of us in terms of overall gamebalance, taking into consideration the coolness factor of each job and then balancing it with the utility of the class. Dragoons too cool? No problem; make them weak and ineffectual. Monks not so cool? Make them heavy hitters! While the coolness of the dragoons will attract people to the class; their weakness will cause people to shy away. On the otherhand, monks aren't that appealing initially, but they have lots of power; so more people gravitate towards them despite been not so cool.
In the end, the job populations balance out! In a twisted... not so balancing out kinda manner.

It strikes me that the original poster (MeleefighterFF, a name that has now permanently tarnished itself in the eyes of most people on these forums) is a complete hypocrit. Frankly, your posts reek of insecurity.

Your claim is that people pick DRK because of the armor/scythe? Or because they think it's the "best" DD? Then why the hell did you post a longwinded thread on YOUR class being the best DD? Isn't that exactly the same motivation as to why you claim "noobs" pick DRK in the first place? I'm sorry my friend, but you've made a complete ass out of yourself.

Secondly, why, oh WHY did you feel a need to make this thread? Surely you realize you've lowered yourself WELL below the level of those people you supposedly (and VERY ignorantly) attempt to criticize? This stinks of someone who is FRIGHTENED they may not have picked the best DD, and so jumps on any evidence to support the claim that they ARE the best DD. Why the HELL do you think people pick DRG or SAM AT ALL if they know it isn't the best. Ever thought they might want to play that clas instead of your beloved MNK?

ok just want to state a fue things before i get down to what i want to say. first off. the thread starter (who i put in my ever growing folder of trolls not ment to be fed) seems to think that a couple parcers taken out of context to be the holy grail of the truth. (notice he did not link to any of these suposed parcer logs)

any way on to my post.

i just read over this thread.. after i got past the first two pages of dribble it started to get good i just wanted to bring up a couple things i saw

1 blm dmg. personly i do not count blm in to the mele damage mix casting freeze is a Bit diffrent then going toe to toe with a mob and trying to hit it with a large stick with a curvy blade on the end.

2 renki. couple things i saw here that urked me as well. first a dark can be part in caulsing a fusion renki i know i have done it. mind you we where messing around on a exoray hunt and i do not rember the exact combo of weapon skills. :spin:

light and dark renki, if a drk is up to date on his/her weapon's he/she should have multiple weapons ready to go a drk who uses both a gsword and scythe can be used to close both dark and light chains.

now i am in no way shape or form trying to say drk is better then any other mele job we all serve our rolls. if i get out damaged by a mnk then big woop the same result was reached mob dead and us one tick closer to dinging.

i personaly do not like the undead not becauls my dmg is gimped (and its not) but mostly becauls my drain/aspir is wasted on them
but set me up against a arcana mob and watch the shards fly. be they pot or golem =P
