On Crossreaper/Spinning Slash

I've been looking over some more posts on these and I want to know the skillchains that can be used to make normal or boosted Level 3 renkai's


After 60 I'm going to be in a pure static party with

PLD/WAR = Sword
DRG/(WAR/SAM) = Polearm
DRK/(WAR/THF) = Scythe/Greatsword
THF/NIN = Dagger
WHM/BLM = N/A
RDM/SMN = N/A


I've heard for the upgraded Level 3 light renkai that:

Red Lotus Blad --> Skewer --> Spinning Slash (Super L3 Light)

This combination looks good to me, PLD can RLB, DRG can Skewer, and I can SS.

Are there any OTHER combinations? Or in general what is the trend, IE Fusion renkai --> Transfixion etc for L3 Light, etc.

And if someone could give a renkai for the L3 Dark renkai, or super L3 Dark Renkai with Cross Reaper that would own. Thanks!

havent tried em myself, but it looks like dancing edge > Penta/skewer > Cross would work...

I guess if you sub thief, then you can ping pong the hate onto drg and back onto pld.

So:

Red Lotus Blade --> Pentathrust (Fusion) --> Spinning Slash (Super L3 Light)

Dancing Edge --> Skewer (Distortion) --> Cross Reaper (Super L3 Dark)

That helps me a ton. We are planning on ping-ponging the hate from DRG to PLD when he has Super Jump or High Jump ready. It would probably go something like this:

I pull <t>
THF Fuidama onto PLD
I Fuidama onto DRG (Should still be on PLD)
When TP & Fuidama's ready we land one of the SC's
If Light: THF Fuidama's ondo DRG, making him get hate, I finish the SC on the PLD securing his hate for the rest of the battle....or killing the thing, most likely killing it.
If Dark: Same Thing THF Fuidama DE's onto DRG, DRK Skewers, I finish on PLD, screwing mob over.

EDIT: Fixed the first renkai so it works now.

You can really play around with this

one of the basic theories around LV3 renkei as far as i know is combining the 4 elements.

Thus, some examples

Redlotus -> penta

Gravitation.

Combined with Cross reaper, which is a distortion WS of itself

Gravitation -> Distortion ( Dark Earth Water Ice )

enhanced LV3 renkei for Darkness

I notice the enhanced ones work better than 2 part, eg asuran -> cross

For Light

Red Lotus -> ragingfists/howling fist (Fusion) -> Spinning Slash

Light renkei. works just like the ones mentioned above, but as Awntawn has mentioned before, This works extra well against Bone type mobs since Monks are strong VS them, therefore making this renkei very viable against your regular pulls in King Ranperres Tomb, Gustav Tunnel, etc.

In fact, I've had some success with enhanced LV3 Light renkeis vs the Tigers and Cockatrices in deep kuftal, past the stone barrier.

Of course, this wont work well against Typhoon Wyverns in gustav or Ladons in deep kuftal, you might go with a Darkness renkei for those.

/panic Hey you stinkin galk :spin: . Btw i dont think that party would really work, cuz you gots 3 melee and 1 tank. May have some down time, also you have 2 people acting on the role of the Thf, Drk/Thf and Thf/Nin. 1 person transfering hate is good enuff, so me thinks you should drk/war.

not a bad party, but you will be pissed off when doing bones 68+, because to put it frankly, you'll be owned.

you need the standard 3 mage / 3 melee party. its simply the best out there

do not waste any spots on a thief 60+ as transferring the hate is now YOUR job.

my recommendation: DO NOT GET A BLINK TANK. I am firmly against the nin/??? tank. I'm sorry, its just something that really annoys me, due to the fact that any time i bust out soul eater and start owning shit, it turns to me

THF? Who needs THF?

Ok, THF aren't bad. But I think the party is better off with another damage dealer.

Was leveling with a SAM/WAR as other damage dealer last night.

Tachi: enpi (200 damage) > SA+TA+Sickle moon (500-600 damage) = distortion (360 damage, sometime you only get half damage for 180ish distortion) > MB = dead mob.

Sure, dancing edge do 700-800, but total damage over 1 minute doesn't come close. And it's not like our PLD had problem holding hate with 600 damage worth of hate put on him instead of 800. :spin:

you can also do wheeling thrust -> spinning slash for light if you want

putting all the talks of pros and cons of each jobs aside, what I would do w/ that setup after lvl 66 is;

Swift Blade->Cross Reaper = Dark
&
Wheeling Thrust->Shark Bite = Light
(Shark Bite is from lvl 66, not 65.)

of course, depending on the mobs u fight, either one of them may not work well. in that case, u can try things like;


Wheeling Thrust->Swift Blade->Cross Reaper = Dark

dmg of lvl 3 renkei will be increased a lot if do 3 chains than 2 chains. (50% increase, if not resisted.)


also, if u'd rather avoid PLD be put in renkei while possible;

Dancing Edge->Pentathrust (NOT Skewer)->Crossreaper = Dark

works fine as mentioned ealier.


in this setup, PLD may have a MP problem if he/she is to play part of renkei, but in order to create Light renkei, THF will be out of it, too.


personally, i'm interested in ur setup, while one thing to regret is that u lack BRD. but if u choose the right place to level, u should just do fine.

btw, w/ this setup, u won't do skeletons anyways, so don't even worry about it. u have a good party against flies.

i have trouble setting up renkei when theres a THF in PT and PAL is the tank. i have to say i started to hate them >< if anyone could please help me out on 3chains lv3 renkeis that a DRK or THF ends it.
as for DRK we need Fusion or Gravition and THF's only WS "Cyclone" (but most likely they refuse to use it because it doesn't work with SA) can do Gravitation or Fusion with Sword (PAL)
for THF they need Fusion and GS and Scythe can't make anything Fusion with Sword(PAL)
im talking about all the WS before lv71, thanks

Sickle moon will never form fusion because the scission property takes higher precedence.
