In the December 2003 patch, Square added another Great Sword for Dark Knights (because of the sparsity of great swords already). The name of the new great sword is "Shadow Vanquisher", and its for level 20+ Dark Knights. The sword adds 14 attack, 5 evasion, and has 431 delay.

Gaining the sword is pretty simple. You must first do the Deathbringer quest. Upon doing this, take Deathbringer to Davoi. Inside Davoi is an orc called "Orcish Farkiller". All you have to do is use Deathbringer to kill the Farkiller, which should not be a problem for a level 20+ Dark Knight (Farkiller is weak to Deathbringer). Once you do that, a cutscene will begin (similar to a "Rescue the Children" cutscene) where Farkiller will forge the Deathbringer into the "Shadow Vanquisher".




Anyone know anything about this or is he/she pulling my leg? I found out that the orcish farkiller is a 65+ NM that would surely chew my 50 DRK up, but maybe part of its true. I wish it was true atleast

Seems kinda dumb that you would have to kill a 65NM for a sword thats for level 20-30's...But I have no idea if it's true or not, seems fishy though ^^.

lol if you can kill an orcish farkiller with that level 5 sword with dark knights low defense..you're like a god or sumthing...and at level of you to even hit the orcish farkiller you dont even need that crap sword anymore just get braveheart(18) or demons sword(31) or mercs greatsword(20) or windurstian sword(25) or barbs greatsword(25) or flame greatsword(27)...dosnt sound like greatswords are so sparce to me :sweat:

the shitty ones aren't sparce, the good ones are paladin only, the greatest one is drk only and imposssible to get unless your like xion or owen.

LOL Balmung isnt that hard from what i have seen. DEC 15th when the patch came out, it took all of a day for the balmung to show up in jueno AH.

Balmung was available waaaaay long before that, just took people that long to kill fafnir that they just so happened to get it on your server on the patch day. Maybe they needed the boosts in the patch to kill it :p

Is balmung the sword Zeid carries? I did Deathbringer quest this past week and saw him again. What armor does Zeid use? I'm liking his armor better than the AF. Especially his mask! AS for shadow vanquisher.. I figured it was too good to be true.

i forgot what zeids armor and stuff looks like =_=...but that crap sword isnt good.....its only a little bit better then the level 5 sword you get after up grade but its 15 levels higher XD and you have to kill a level 60+ orc!

Yea I was wondering that myself.. Farkiller weak to Deathbringer at lvl 20.. ~_~ww

Would probably never even do any damage to farkiller with Deathbringer.

Well in refrence to what Savage was talking about, Balmung showed up on AH couple days after the Patch yes.. However, many people saw Tresure having Balmung in her bazaar long before. She probably decided it was taking too much room and put it on AH. Sold for 1mil. on midgard.

Many people have killed Fafnir, you can see quite a few people wearing some of the 2h swords that Fafnir drops. (drops I think 4 different 2h swords.)
