Galka VS. Elvaan for best DRK race.

Hello, im wondering now after the patch and Square saying they dont play on raising the level cap past 75 (but i bet they will go to at least 80 or so) which Race you think makes the better Dark Knight. I mentioned the magic part, because lots of people didnt play Galka simply because they cannot cast much magic, and worried about higher spells at high levels.

I would think Galka would make the better DRK all around, with their high HP causing more damage on soul eater compared to elvaan..And i know that ALL races can make good darks, but Elvaan/Galka are probably the best..So what are your thoughts?

Which race do YOU think makes the best Dark?

galkas make the best drk judging on brute force and might. They have a weenie sized mp pool but great survivability and are quite strong.

elves come in second in HP, best str and mnd stat. good survivability, low mp, low int. lowest dexterity is their weakness.

humes and mithra are highly versitile. very good against physical resistant enemies. can nuke proficiently if necessary. this is something galkas can never do. hp is low compared to galka and elves, cannot take as much aggro.

taru, haha.... highest mp pool, can sub whm and heal if needed. this is one of those cool combos that could work and only tarus can pull it off.


i'm playing mithra and i'm lovin it. highest dex acts like a free sniper's ring at lv 70... magical abilities are great, far superior to elvaan or galka.

Elvaan win hands down mainly because I don't feel like playing a character who is a fat bastard with a tail coming out my ass.

Other than that, I still choose Elvaan. Due to our superior melee damage and decent mana pool. DEX can always be raised by food and items (roasted carp or pirpara = teh win). I also do enjoy casting, especially some of our exclusive spells (absorb line).

I know people who hate elves for their Giraffe necks. Its a matter of preference.
And your superior melee damage can be made up for by items and food, just as your dex. So really when it comes down to it, its what you enjoy as well player skill.

Otherwise I doubt I would see all those little taru Drk's in AF running around.

i like elvan, but theoretically galkas better, but its all about compensation man.. you compensate waht you lack with gear.. the dex diff isn't taht much in galka vs elvann, mithra miss just as much. it's all about your personal choice. just make sure you get gear to boost your accuracy, accuracy kills dex. it seems to me 3dex=1accuracy.. lol but don't take my word on that because accuracy can't be judged since it has no status view.

albert is correct. its all about preference. galka would indeed make a better drk in killing everything in his path but his magic skills would lack. would you like to spend half your battles casting magic or would you want to do as much damage as possible? its all up to you. and btw those base stats,dont bother comparing them beacuse any races weakness can be negated by items and they arent always as accurate.the real differences would be the hp and mp

You fight him in the last Bastok mission, but he doesn't die, he like, turns evil and then you have to 'knock him out of it'.

Return to the topic: From the stats Elvaan is much better because your main stat is str and Elvaan have the highest stat. Galka is also a good DRK but I wouldn't like to miss the mp. I'm a hume and I am glad to have a bunch of mp so I can absorb some stats, stun or use elemental spell.

Stats aren't that important even a Galka BLM and a taru DRG are useful

with proper and uptodate subs, and equip that compensates for their weaknesess, i guess there viable, but stats and equip are very important..

I Agree with the sycricon ..what ever ..i think galkas has no style to be a darkknight the are just dumb big fat creatures and they have a punie wonie mana which sucks ..but elvaans have a great amount of mana and the not do such dmg as a galkas but still the do high dmg with help of magic which as you can see galkas cant never do
