Which is better?

not sure what to go with.

is it better to be a dark knight with a white mage subjob (so i'm quite strong, can heal myself and use some black magic)

or be a black mage with a paladin subjob (so i'm not as strong, can heal myself to a lesser extent but can use more powerful black magic, including Warp?

i realise this is an opinionated question but i was just after some other opinions.

both are ill equipped for parties.

as a drk, you want to the most melee dmg, not heal.
as a blm, you want the most mp.

Could I ask if there are any benefits to a DRK/WHM? I have partied with 2 different DRK's that had this combo. Both of them were japanese. Do they know something we don't? I think next time, i'll ask them.

whenever you wanna sneak around some place on your own (I.E., coffer hunting), you're gonna need whm or rdm sub to cast sneak/invis :p That's what it's for. Also, if you wanna solo kill some weaker NM for a quest, whm sub will save you a lot of time. It's not a fighting sub, but it's real handy. On the other hand, before level 30 when you get berserk, WHM sub's heals are very handy. You don't really get much damage boost from WAR before this anyways, so why not :p

Also, if you wanna be a black mage who can heal, just be BLM/WHM... completely better in every way... unless you're just "anti-cookier cutter" :sweat: :sweat: :sweat:

Agreed Awntwan, i was gonna say i wouldnt recommend /WHM for PT use EVER unless it was before LVL 20 IMO, you could even use this to solo in shakrami on MM with teh MP boost you would get. But later its pointless in a PT.

I was soloing shrooms near Crag de Holla with DRK/WHM when I was picked up by a Valkurm party.

They wanted me to heal ^^.
