It's a drop from either Doppelganger Dio or Doppelganger Gog. I can't remember which right now, one drops Cruel Scythe and the other drops Cruel Spear. They are NMs, and they appear in the northernmost tower in East Sarutabaruta. They are levels 25-30 roughly. I could solo them with only a bit of trouble as a 34 BLM/WHM in beta. The same tower also is home to Bomb King. The three NMs seem to rotate their appearances, but I don't have any more info on the timing. -

I soloed Doppelganger Dio for the Scythe at level 30 with my THF. I wouldn't recommend doing it with THF though because I ended the the fight with 4 HP left

Anyone know how much these go for on average at the AH? I'm currently seeking on and, of course, sandoria has none at the AH (stupid country
). I guess I have to wait until one of the major cities gets one in.

well i found one after like 3days of searching, i was lvl 24 by the time i found it. it seems like everyone is collecting them or something. building up a scythe collection, lol. i sold mine at sandoria for 8k.. bought it for 5k. i wouldn't be surprised if the price rises.Comment

You bought Aspir????? You know its free questing. And yeah Dopplanger Dio drops scythe, at LVL 30 if you try solo you will be L:UCKY even with war to win, i think a RDM could do it but thats it as far as the 6 main, if you did it with THF wow, you got super lucky, had to use your 2h huh

yup, bought aspir, got drain for free.
I'm from san and I'm a poor traveler, so when I went to Windurst to get my fame + do aspir quest, I felt totally unmotivated because windurst is too damn spaced out.
Not my neck of the woods.
