If you haven't done the upgrade quest and need the Sword again, you can go to the top of Palborough Mines and ride the ferry back to Bastok. When you get back to Zerhun you'll be issued a new sword.
And to restate, all killing bows must be done by the blade itself. No WS kills, no spell damage kills, and no trying to be cute and use enwhatever spells.
As far as quickly killing the 100 mobs needed, the fastest way I can recommend is wait for off-peak hours for your server, then get a really terrible but fast delay ranged weapon (lvl1 xbow and rusty bolts works). Go to a starting area and shoot about 10-15 different low level critters and get a nice crowd following you around.
Then pull out Timewaster.. er Death Bringer, whatever. When you fight a creature, make sure there is another one in your line of sight when you deal the killing blow. This will allow Auto-Target to switch to the next creature with no delay.
This speeds up the killing rate by about 30%, otherwise you get to stand around for 7 seconds in between each kill.
