During the WAR days, is Scything worth it?

WHile I'm lvling my WAR/MNK for eventual DRK-dom, is it worth it to use a scythe, or is it best just to speed things along as fast as possible with a big ol' axe?

I have never used an axe the entire time i've been a warrior. In my eyes, the game doesn't really start until I become a level 1 DRK. I have only done 3 missions and 1 quest in the game. I'm pretty weird and don't want to start anything until I hit DRK.

At any rate, I have been switching between great sword and scythe. Both are currently maxed out and I plan to keep it that way until scythe gains the upper hand later on. I guess it just depends on the player. I don't think either way is really better than the other.

But woulden't it be good to start out with a scythe so you can lvl. it up until you become a DRK, im a noob too

its nice if you do, its not required or anything but it will make your life a lil bit easier but then again if you fight alot of the tougher mobs then you will gain your skills like nothing.
