    DNC appears as though it could become a job combining elements of THF, RDM, and BRD when you look at the things said about Flourish, Step, and Dance.

    Dance
    AoE buffs similar to BRD

    Step
    Do you think these enfeebles will be similar to Paralyze, Slow, and Blind or something new?

    Flourish
    "Provoke effect" ~ Trick Attack?
    "Weapon Skill strengthener" ~ Sneak Attack?
    "Skillchain openers" + WS ~ Chain Affinity + WS? (solo Distortion and Darkness would be nice)
    "TP conversion"? What are your thoughts?

    I'd expect them to give DNC Dancing Edge the way they gave COR Slug Shot. It would be really rather saddening if they didn't.

    If they gave DNC decent evasion and self skillchains, I could see a DNC/NIN and BLM/SCH duo being quite fun even if the job did not do any enmity transferring. You will most likely see me playing Ryoii as DNC and Nonomii as SCH once WotG arrives.

    well that would be weird if Dancers can still pull off their skillchains through Steps and Flourishes, which already consume TP.

    the good news is that Steps won't require 100 TP per use.

    plus I'm thinking DCR/SAM (faster TP rate)
    and DCR/BRD (wider range of support options) will be great support choices.

    I'm not planning on ever tanking with Dancer. and from the abilities revealed I don't feel its meant to tank, but it does have the some potential flexibility to tank if people want them to (like NIN, SAM, BRD, etc.)

      A DNC self-skillchaining would be stupid. All dagger WS pre-Dancing Edge suck beyond any redemption unless you're THF main and can stack them with SATA. And DNC is not a pure DD so its Dancing Edges will probably be less than stellar.

      Hell, self-skillchaining is stupid on BLU half the time (it's often a lot more efficient to do heavy damage with a 100 TP spell and let a DD with powerful WS close the SC for big damage, than to use a mediocre sword WS and then close with a 0 TP spell for normal damage, resulting in an also mediocre SC.)

      On top of that, Dancers'll have a constant strain on their TP from dancing, so they'll WS at a rate slower than paint drying.

      It's a lot smarter to open the SC for someone else, especially when you consider that the whole reason DDs don't like to skillchain is because they often end up going at ~130+ TP if they have to wait on their SC partner. That extra 30 TP is almost 1/3 of a WS, lost. On the other hand, Dancers can open up skillchains at will and they don't have any potential damage to lose since they're not using WS's to open the Skillchain.

      Edit: Plus, if Dancers can open skillchains arbitrarily, then compatibility won't be an issue and DDs won't have to use a sub-par WS just to close a Skillchain that may or may not be resisted.

        ya that would be helpful for the party and stuff. I think Dancers will only be using WS while leveling to 10.

        but even then it would be rare if they get early abilities that help win a battle much more effeciently, especially if they're stuck with dagger as their only weapon they are decent with.

          My thought was that they would be giving Flourish the versatility to assist in various party combinations. Here are some examples of what I was thinking:

          Party A: IT++ Enemies
          PLD, BLU, DNC, BLM, RDM, SCH

          Here we benefit from two jobs being able to generate solo skillchains for little damage but opening for powerful magic bursts from three other party members while the PLD is free to use their WS for maintaining hate.

          Party B: VT-IT Enemies
          NIN, MNK, WAR, DNC, COR, WHM

          Here we have a NIN trying to tank against powerful melee damage dealers who have no need to skillchain. I imagine a "Trick Attack" type Flourish would be helpful.

          Party C: VT Enemies
          PLD, THF, PUP, DNC, WHM, RDM

          Here the DNC could probably benefit from assisting the party with creating more damage using a "Sneak Attack" type Flourish which could make Flourish + Viper Bite possibly as powerful as SATA + Viper Bite.

          I'll probably be wrong about the Flourish effects, but it was just what came to mind when I read the translations.

            I think "Provoke effect" description doesn't leave much room for ambiguity or assuming that it's a Trick Attack. And I doubt WS Strengthener translates into Sneak Attack in any way. In fact, seeing as Dancer will mostly likely be WS-impaired, WS Strengthener is probably a buff you bestow upon a party member.

            And again, I'm not really too keen on a Dancer's ability to self-skillchain. If they're going to be constantly debuffing, healing, and buffing, all of which consume TP, they sure as hell won't have the TP to create a mediocre self-skillchain, since that would require saving up more than 100 TP. You'd either have to a) stop all your dances, steps, and flourishes for an extended period of time, or b) use less dances/steps/flourishes so you can actually accumulate TP over time, and only be able to self-skillchain once every 5 minutes due to how slow you're getting TP.
