I can't believe no one's mentioned this yet but ...

Whips were traditionally the weapons used by BST in all previous FF's. Dancers have always equipped knives, as far as I can remember.

It would be interesting if they announced Geomancer - they always used to attack with Bells for some strange reason.

well in Tactics, Dancers had

Great abilities
Good attack power
Great range
No MP required
Great movement skills
Better than a bard

their cons were Low defense and Low evade%

and if I remember, Dancers in FFT could use cloths as a weapon, and H Bags.
