    Hmmm.... well MY version of the Blue Mage would be someone who uses scrolls like other magic. Also dont forget they are only 3 types of magic. Blue Magic sounds like another form of black. Example of my view of a Blue Mage: (just from memory)

    HP: = THF
    MP: = RDM
    STR, DEX, AGL = RDM
    INT = NIN
    MND, CHR = PLD
    Club = B+
    Sword = B
    Dagger B-
    Staff = C+
    Evasion = B
    Parry = C-
    Throwing = C
    Shield = B-
    Blue Magic Skill = A
    Dark Magic Skill B (is given no spells, so you must have BLM/DRK sub to build this)
    Enfeebaling Magic skill = B- (ditto)

    Abilities:

    Level 1: Mime: For 30 seconds, Mimic has a recast time of 6 seconds and a TP cost of 1. Recast time: 2 hours.

    Level 1: Mimic: Steals one WS from the mob. Can only be used when the user has 90+ TP. Recast time: 2 mins.
    (These are based on INT, like how STR/CHR/ect affect WSes)

    Level 15: Drainkiss: Randomly steals HP, MP, or TP from the mob. Recast time: 6 mins.

    Level 30: Killer: AoE effect. Doubles the effectiveness of the Mob type killers to all in your party. Recast time: 10 mins.

    Traits:

    Level 5: Scroll Finder Up.

    Level 20: Magical Def Up.

    Level 30: Resist vs Fear +

    Level 40: Magical Def Up.

    Level 50: Acc Up.

    Level 60: Resist vs Fear +

    Level 60: Skillchainer. Attacks used from Mimic can take part in skillchains.

    Spells:

    They are three tiers of Blue Mage spells.

    Tier 1: This are usually weak and can be dropped when a Blue Mage are in a party. They are Rare, but not Ex. One for every mob, not including dragons, manticores, other high level only mobs. 1-35~ EX: a Sheep's sleep AoE, around level 25.

    Tier 2: This is slightly stronger. They drop from any mob above level 35. Rare and Ex. One from most mob types. 35-60~. EX: a Mandy's sleep AoE.

    Tier 3: These are very powerful Blue Mage spells that come from special BCNMs and 2-3 are rare HNM drops. Most are Rare/Ex, but some of the HNM drops are only Rare. They are 12 BCNMs, 6 are solo and 6 need a party of level 60s or 70s depending on the one.

    Also some Blue Mage spells can be bought from NPCs, mostly Tier 1s with a handful of Tier 2s. Blue Magic would mostly be sold in Waag-Daag's shop in Jeuno.

    I could go on if you guys like. The reason I personally dont like this is (a too many dmg dealers already (b not everyone would invite Blue Mages due to their sometimes AoE nature.

      I dont think you understand how my power works , which is why you say that.

      Just because you can draw doesnt mean it will be successful each time.

      the lower your blue mage level the higher the chance for failure.
      also like other magic blue magic skill will have caps. Meaning it will increase on successes and failures. however blue magic skill also canbe resisted. Its kinda like you fighting a doctor trying to draw your blood. It will cause some bit of enmity on you also. So you will need to be careful.

      war75/Blue mage1 = not a good a idea. unless fighting lower level or = level mons.

          Well personally, I think the game is already unbalanced and that the thing to do to balance it is add more mage/healing classes.

          There are too many melees on most every server, I don't think anyone will dispute that (except maybe the mages ) The way to balance this out is to A) either FORCE a certain percentage of players to be mages (i.e. not gonna happen) or B) create MORE mage classes so that there will be more options, and more general interest to play mage type classes.

          If they create more mage classes, there will more than likely become more mages. This means more parties. This means fewer melee LFG for hours on end. This means the salvation of Vanadiel for a melee such as myself. I would KILL for them to add Blue Mage, Time Mage, and Alchemist to this game. Even if only one of those classes was a reasonable magic damage dealer, and one of those classes was a reasonable healer, then it wouldn't be a near-stipulation to have a BLM and WHM in the party.

          Granted some mages would simply become a different kind of mage, which doesn't really solve the problem. But some melees would most definately want to play these jobs, and that would be better for the servers in general. Unbalance? No. What would be TERRIBLE, is if S-E added another melee damage-dealing class. Because the only thing that this could do is create more melee damage dealers sitting with thier flag up in Lower Jeuno, lagging out the AH. And I hate lag.

          Melee will never be completely dispensable, so adding more mages will not necessarily reduce the demand for melees. If anything, adding functional mage classes will increase the number of potential parties and benefit everyone.

          If you can actually give me a logical reason why more magic classes would be bad for the game, then by all means do. I for one would love to change up my daily routine by being able to toss the occassional /sea all level #-# alc into the sea of /sea all level #-# whm that I have to spam when trying to start/complete a party. For that matter, I wouldn't mind replacing Blue Mage with Black Mage or Red Mage with Time Mage.

          I never plan to seriously be a mage no matter what mages they do or don't add, but I would simply orgasm if they added a few more good mages to the game.

            They won't ever add a blue mage.
            It will be too underpowered at lower levels.
            And it will be overpowered at higher levels.

              but bst already is the game's 1/2 assed blue mage.

              Fix bst and give us sic II at lv 70 or something to let us pick which ws to use and you got yerself a ready to go blue mage right there.
              75/bst, 60/smn, 51/rdm, 46/whm, 40/blm, 37/nin, 37/thf, 37/war, 32/sam, 25/brd, 10/pld, 7/mnk

                i might get flamed for this but........


                throat stab = blue mage broken.......

                thats giving a character in the game the ability to knock off 90% of any monster life including hnms, gods, nm, lvling mobs, etc.......


                going to have to have a list of move they can have and can't have....... else you're going to see a mad rush of blue mages running to temple just to get throat stabbed..... and the know they won't die from it cause after they get smacked with that the tonberry not gonna have any interest in the blue mage nemore and just go after another blue mage with in the pt........ oh yah.... people will also be picking on malboros type for bad breathe..... but that'd be funny to watch a bunch of blue mages going after a malboro type just to get bad breathe...... bunch of dead blue mages there /grin.....


                well.... thats my thought about blue mages heh.....

                        ok, so far everything looks alright, and sure there'll be skills that'll require lots of TPs or MPs to pull off, if we could learn them at all.

                        One thing I have to disagree with is the "Paragon of Red Mage Excellence" title, why that title? because you have it? I have it, and I say that'll be the biggest bunch of bull on this thread besides those who just don't get that this is hopeful speculation.

                        at most having 2 jobs at 30 as a requirement, but not having 1 specific job out of 15 having to reach post AF, then to make the requirement worthwhile, they'll have to fight multiple NMs. Unless you come up with an NM that requires someone to be +60 RDM, fine, but wow >_>

                        I just can't decide which i like more, TP dependant or MP dependant

                        oh btw, giving BLU staff b/c all mages have it is an incorrect assumption. RDM does not get staff skill. Sword, Dagger, Club, ... i think that's it. I feel staff should be dependant on TPs or MPs

                              How about making it more possible at later levels to do it.

                              Throat stab shouldnt insta kill, but maybe make it at 33% the strength of the tonberry version.

                                Is there any details on how they're going to be?? By just looking at the vid, the taru BLU did the Web Skill by the spiders and the Hume did that breath attack by the Raptors. So with that, I'm just wondering. Will they learn every single mob "skill" that's out there (assuming they survive it). And if so, wouldn't that mean that if they survive King Behemoth's Meteo, that they'll have Meteo too? Or better yet, Hurricane Wing by Nidhogg/Fafnir? BLU just doesn't sound interesting, but also sounds very powerful at this point. But all of these are still pure speculation. Until we see the job (and even how to obtain the job), all we can do is wait.
