  • Lvl 50 Blu equipment

I'm looking to upgrade some of my gear now that I'm lvl 50. So here's what I have on so far.

Weapons: Crimson Blade and Combat Caster's Scimitar +2
    Ranged: Rogetsurin
    Ammo:
    Head: Valkyrie's Mask
Neck: Tiger's Stole (changing to Peacock as soon as I can get one)
    Earrings: Antivenom and Insomnia Earrings
Body: Brigandine (want to change to Cerise doublet once I can)
    Hands: Combat Caster's Mitts
Rings: Ecphoria Ring (other slot is empty for now)
    Back: Red Cape +1
    Waist: Life Belt
    Legs: Carapace Subligar
    Feet: Savage Gaiters

I think I need to up my Acc because if I party, I see a drop in my hit rate (sync or non-sync). I have soloed almost all of my lvls but still want advice on party equip.

Right off the bat, you may want to remedy that. Off the top of my head, a pair of Woodsman's Rings come to mind if you're having Accuracy troubles.

But I don't like the -eva on it. Maybe one Woodsman and the Ecphoria together? It's only one less Acc then with two and I don't have -10 to eva.

One Woodsman + Ecphoria would serve your needs about as well as two Woodsmans would. But unless you're tanking as a BLU/NIN (not to discourage you from doing that or anything), that Evasion wouldn't really mean that much. I honestly doubt anybody's going to fault you on personal preference, though.

Aside from that, I haven't even unlocked Blue Mage yet, and my highest jobs are at level 40. So, sorry, but I don't have much more advice than that.

A C.C. Scimitar +1 will serve you better than a Crimson Blade if you ask me. Max MP isn't nearly as important as MP recovery at these levels. Spike Necklace trumps Tiger Stole because Attack doesn't do anything for Blue Magic. The body, legs, and feet slots offer so little I would actually just slap on Crow gear for the huge -enmity chunks. Get Battle Gloves at least for casting Blue Magic. I would get +Attack earrings for when you've expended the extra 30 MP from the antivenom/insomnia combo too.

-Evasion is totally harmless, no job with C-ranked Evasion is going to dodge much of anything an IT mob throws his/her way. NINs have a hard enough time dodging as it is, and they've got A-rank evasion.

What are you eating? The best food is Marinara Pizza in my opinion.

Well I had it from a Roc run I did. And figured since I was using my AF weapon before that on my offhand I'd just change up for this. But maybe another CC +2 would do me some good.

But I really don't like the -6 to mind. Sucks down my Wild Carrot. Maybe once I get Magic Fruit it won't matter.

No! Er...I mean...I want to break away from those...things *Stares at them* My Dnc/Pup can keep them for now.

But I still like it when I see lots of misses. It's the Mithra in me.

If losing 6 HP bothers you that much then just make your Wild Carrot macro unequip it.

Too bad, but Attack does absolutely nothing for your Blue Magic, and Accuracy is a superior stat to Attack in general anyways. Besides, CC Mitts look just the same, don't they?
But I still like it when I see lots of misses. It's the Mithra in me.
Won't be seeing those in EXP.

At the risk of sounding like a dick, this is absolutely unacceptable. Any non-mage job* that doesn't eat food in EXP is quite frankly dead weight. There is absolutely nothing you could possibly say to defend this position. Why? Because food makes such a huge difference that you're gimp without it. I could invite practically any other DD that'll eat food over you, and he'd have to be trying really hard to fail to do worse damage than you if you're not eating food. Thus, it doesn't make sense to invite you to a party.

The only time it's acceptable not to eat food is against Lolibri, because they'll eat it anyways when you pull hate.

*I slap all mages that don't eat food too, but the difference in performance isn't anywhere as big as when a non-mage doesn't eat food.

Except for tanks, should use food anyway; Crab Sushi is fairly inexpensive, and anyone swinging at those brids should get three stacks before leaving Whitegate.

With a bit of care on when to WS, I got through two hours of partying losing food only 6 times, even though I was the top DD in my last Colibri party as SAM/DRG. (The tank was really good, though. I would expect using about a stack to a statck and half in two hours with normal tanks.)

                      Re: Lvl 50 Blu equipment

Your gear depends on solo or party, and to a certain extend, Subjob and Job Traits open up some options.

For example, when fighting 6-people exp party or most mobs above Tough, evasion does not make much impact.

For melee, usually the gear setup match with the food you are using. For example, using certain gear with sushi, or certain gear with attack food.

For solo, food is optional. However, with the correct food, gear, and items like exp. ring, you can solo more exp. over time.

Just because he didn't want to sound like a dick is no excuse for you to be one in return. Now eat your food or you won't have any damage! How can you expect any damage if you don't eat your food?!

My gosh, you are an affront to BLUs everywhere with what I have seen kiddo -.-

Ok first off, FOOD, FOOD, FOOD, like Armando said, a DD who doesnt eat food is just dead weight because you arent reaching your full potential DD-wise. First off, those battle gloves are increadible for their level stat wise, and until you get your hands on some jaridah bazubands, those gloves gonna be your best friend. second of all, -6 MND aint gonna do shit except lower your wild carrots healin power by a few points at most. so throw on that spike necklace and dont take it off until you either get a PCC or a chiv chain. losing eva isnt important as a blu since A) you probably will be /nin so you will have shadows, B) you have metallic body, great stoneskin spell way earlier than any other mage in the game, C) you also have coccoon to incrrease your defense, so taking a hit even when both shadows and SS are down shouldnt bother you.

BLU isnt for the weak of heart, mind, or body. It takes a lot of dedication, effort, and money (sorry to say) to equip and play BLU to its fullest potential.

No, you were being inexperienced. You stated that not only had you not played Blu yet, but you haven't even gotten past 40. So while I welcome your advice I have to take it in that context.

Really? Because I don't play the way you do? Or because I didn't do every little thing you did as Blu along the way?

Okay, lets clear some things up. I am not a party Blu. I've maybe had...5 or 6 parties as Blu? A total of 5 lvls out of 50. No, I don't use shadows when I solo. It's a waste of money specialy when I have a perfectly good heal spell. Yes I do care about how much Wild Carrot heals me for. Because when I get more out of it, I don't feel cheated on the MP I have to spend that I could be using to make the fight go faster. The only thing that I notice when I am in a party is that I miss more then everyone else. NOT MY DAMAGE. My damage is usually at or alittle below what someone else with a sword is doing. I don't have to worry about food because I solo mostly.

Yes, Metallic Body is nice. But you know how long it usually lasts? Maybe three hits even with Coccoon. If it lasted half the fight it would be much more worth it. That doesn't stop me from having it on when I fight though. It's very useful when I pull for parties. And eva is importent. I'd rather take no damage from a miss then little damage from a hit. Because the damage adds up over time. And getting hit might stop me from healing. Of course that's what Headbutt it for.

I don't know how this started but it stops here. I just asked for advice. If you don't like the way I am playing MY character, then go contact SE. Tell them I am not playing the way you think everyone else should be playing. And see what they do about it. The arguements are over. Push your chair back from your desk...take a deep breath....and start again. I am taking all the advice into account. I repeat, THE ADVICE. Not the opinions.
