all righty so i just hit lvl 25 BLU the other day got Burst affinity and all, and ogt in a group in kazham, so were killin mandys and were like ok lets get a sc what we ended up using was one of the war's sturmwind and then my red lotus blade, making liquidation, then i remembered i could mb it with a fire spell, but it was hard doing a ws then BA then blastbomb, i soon realized the timing wasnt gonna happen. any ideas for a good macro or technique for MB'ing with BA after i do the second WS in the chain?

I'm not a BLU so I don't know if this works, but can you use Burst Affinity before RLB, then start casting Blastbomb immediately after RLB?

      Re: burst affinity

      Neo mage has it.

Work out how you're going to do your skill chain. If you are the 2nd person going, try and bust out burst affinity right before your partner actually goes. Burst affinity will stay up until A. the duration runs out or B. you cast a magical based blu spell. That way, just as neo said, you could go right into casting after you drop your red lotus blade and not have to activate it in between.

Taking it a step further at level 40, chain affinity has the same rules except for the "b" part. it will be expended when you cast a physical spell instead of a magical one. So solo skill chaining and bursting goes a little like this:

-Announce to party that your going to solo chain once you have 100+ tp(only necessary if you think it is).

-activate burst affinity and chain affinity, both.

-perform necessary weapon skill to open (weaponskill is always first because it can only be done w/ enough tp. If you cast a physical spell first w/ chain affinity up, your tp will be dropped to 0 and you won't beable to chain).

-Cast the proper physical spell (this will use up the chain affinity effect you had activated while leaving your burst affinity effect up). If you do it right, you will see the skillchain animation and extra damage.

-Cast the proper magical spell (and yes, you guessed it, now you will have used your burst affinity effect). If all timed correctly, you will see the magic burst extra damage what not.

It should be noted that it may seem a little touch and go at first, it may take a few attempts to get the timing down.

Also, make sure that what you're MB'ing is actually worth the MP. Most magical BLU spells early on have awful damage/MP ratio compared to Feather Storm and Bludgeon. No sense putting out a big number if it's gonna cost you more MP to do than simply smacking the mob with your usual spells.

Screw /wait. It's prone to lag.

            /ja "Burst Affinity" <stpc>
            /ws "Whatever" <stnpc>
            /ma "Something Else" <stnpc>

All you need. Hit Enter to confirm targets and move on to the next line.

                Re: burst affinity

No, what Armando posted was all one macro. The <st> set of target items give you a blue arrow and wait for you to hit enter to confirm before moving to the next line in the macro.

So you hit the macro, hit enter when you're ready to use the JA on yourself. You get another blue arrow focused on the mob, hit enter when you're ready to do your WS. You get another blue arrow, hit enter when you're ready to cast the spell. If you don't get it, try it, and then you'll understand.

You could do it with three macros, too, but you don't have to.

                  .....

That is freaking brilliant and solves the occasional /wait lag, or when it skips my WS!!!!

I think I'd have a separate macro for the MB though. MP Drainkiss has a long enough casting time that I prefer the button mashing method of getting it off as soon as possible in hopes of a MB.

Crap, this means I'll have to rework my macros again, but it's not that much work and it's for a worthy cause!

                    Re: burst affinity

Also, ive noticed that using Burst before a magic spell increases the spell even without a MB, so it does have its uses even if you arent skillchaining. Works great for sleep spells imo

                      Re: burst affinity

Burst Affinity and Chain Affinity double the DMG you get from the spell's stat mods.

Don't know if it actually does anything for non-damage spells.
