Re: I love Blue Mage but....
The subs I currently use while soloing are /Dnc and /Nin.
My Dancer is currently lvl 19ish I think, I used it up until somewhere between the low to mid 50s. This is a great subjob for soloing since what you are using to heal with, TP, is constantly being generated. I'd recommend not using Chain Affinity or WS with this sub, since it's almost broken what you can do with 150+ TP. Use your spells to deal damage with, and TP to heal with. Just keep in mind that Drain Samba doesn't work on undead. Although even with saying that this is a very useful sub vs undead because of Curing Waltz. I stopped using it shortly after I could use a Dark Staff to regain my mana faster. /Dnc doesn't work as well when you lose all your TP because you swapped your weapon.
I switched over to /Nin once I decided that the added damage of an offhand sword and regaining MP faster with a dark staff would offset the advantages of /Dnc. Not too much to say with this sub.
The decision as to whether to go /Dnc or /Nin should be based on recovery time, endurance and speed. And which do you prefer, 'cause any question about efficiency goes out the window when it comes to solo play. When it's solo it's all about you.
I've heard alot of good things about /bst, but since the Charm duration is affected by your Bst's main level, I wasn't willing to take Bst up to 75 before Blu. It does sound like you can solo some of the spells that you may have needed another person for if you go Blu/Bst though. Another nice thing about /Bst is that alot of our spells have +Chr on them, so I don't know offhand if we can get as much +Chr gear as a Bst, but we can make it up at least. My only concern with /Bst is finding mobs to charm in the area that you'd be exping in, that are high enough to deal decent damage to the mobs you are fighting while not be too high to charm. There are a few areas where I think that may be an issue, but I don't know. You may want to talk to some of the Bsts on the forum to get a good understanding of how /Bst works.
