    Re: Auto Refresh, Worth it?

The thing with auto refresh is that every little bit helps. Sure, by itself it isn't much, but it IS a static 1 mp/3 seconds, which turns into 20 mp/minute and then 1,200 mp/hour, which is alot. Especially if you are not resting.

What I have heard was that Geist Wall sucked absolutely as a Dispel.
I don't know, haven't really used it much yet myself. My only issue with Blank Gaze is that it's a line of sight move, and party members have an annoying habit of pulling hate right as I'm casting.

I think the best general advice for setting spells that I can give is that you should not plan for every contingency, you simply can't set that many spells in most situations. Focus on the spells that complement your role in the party, and focus on the job abilities that you gain through spells to boost your role in the party. IMO it's important to always have a healing spell set, I have seen merit parties die horribly to Colibri because the Brd's sleep didn't land, and the reflected song just happened to hit the Rdm and the Brd together. And since the Blu hadn't set any healing spells, despite being asked to, no one could wake up the Rdm or the Brd, most of us died horrible deaths.

The lone Drg who shall remain nameless, being far too sexy and beautiful to die, made smart use of her Seigan/TE, Super Jump, and Spirit Surge to avoid a messy and untimely death. However she was also the only one of two survivors of the whole debacle.

Moral of the story, carrots and fruit save lives!

So yeah, gear up your spells for your role in the party, at least have a healing spell set as an extra, and then just go from there.

You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.

I don't have a big ego, it just has a large mouth.

Only time I've used Geist Wall is in Dynamis(Dark weather ftw) and on Lamia 13 assault. In Nyzul, the Light weather + fact that things like Soulflayer are dark based makes it not so great. Blank Gaze is a nice spell, but god does it annoy me when its almost done casting and the mob turns around. If I'm lucky a Head Butt stun will last long enough that it'll never turn.

        Re: Auto Refresh, Worth it?

Main reason i perfer Blank gaze is because of 4 certain things.

        1. Its faster to cast. (ive found it to be anyhoo)
        2. Single target.
        3. Takes less mp to use. (Being galka thats my main reason)
        4. Blank gaze recast is only 10 seconds, where as geist wall is 30.

Dont get me wrong, geist wall is a good spell, and it debuffs the same from what ive seen. But the aoe factor is why i dont use it. To many times i was asked to set geist wall over blank gaze, and we were fighting way to close to lizards/other things that could end us.

They both debuff the same, so i always stick to blank gaze for the reasons above.

An xp party that ASKED me to set Geist Wall would be one I'd leave, I can't fathom 1 spot where that'd be useful unless you were xping on Tonberry's or something else thats Light based. And even then Dispel would be better there.

lol Tonberry, have fun dodging Throat Stab, being cursed, and taking Everyone's Grudge with the chin

Note: Haven't seen any resist of Blank Gaze from EP or DC Tonberry during the hours I spent on learning BLU spell. (Not sure with EM ~ IT+) From my experience so far, it seems that Gaze debuff is resist least, compare to AoE, Fan-shape or physical/magical spell with additional debuff.

            Added:
My Blue Magic skill level within the range for learning Voracious Trunk from Marid, the level 64 spell that can be combo for Auto Refresh. Does anyone have tips for taking down those Marid and learning that spell?

Short of going /bst and sending hordes of animals to their untimely demise perhaps? Most likely I'd say get a party for them. They are one mob that I seriously doubt I will ever attempt to solo until I have a distinct level advantage over them, and possibly not even then because Chigoe suck that much.

Not knowing much about them beyond they spawn a Chigoe with each TP move they use though... IF the marid are EP-DC, and IF you could one shot, or perhaps two shot (kill reasonably quickly at anyrate) the Chigoe when they appear, I might go /dnc for it. Save MP for spells and use TP for healing. But again, I've never fought them so I don't know if that is possible.
