  • Crafting For Blue Mage Lifetime

Hi I just got BLU to lvl 48 and I was wondering what craft should I skill up on my spare time to help my BLU career in the long run. I would like to make my own items instead of paying others to do it or buying it at the AH. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The day will fade, and the darkness will provail,
A Soul of honor but a thurst for rage.
Unknown to many, but feared by all,
Through the light of darkness, I will forever be a Immortal Blue Mage.

    With prices these days....

Woodworking for your Shihei needs? Since a BLU subs NIN

There's not much else really, for everything else by the time you can make it yourself you've probably spent 5 times the gil to get to that stage when you can just buy it off the AH.

Things I can think of would be ... Scorpion Harness, Vermillion Cloak, both requires high level of crafting...

all done via BST sub where applicable (no DRG/BST!)

Or you could just skill Cooking for Juice and Yag Drinks.

      That works, too.

No, don't you dare look at the BRD, RDM or COR. COR especially, we hate you BLUs

At any rate, no garuntee you'll always have those jobs along helping you. Keeping up MP is by far the most important thing to a BLU. Shihei is very, very cheap to buy.

Also, investing in cooking and fishing is likely the better way to fund the bigger things you need.

Never relate a certain craft to a certain job.
You can always pick a profitable craft, convert everything to gil, and use that gil to fund your job.

If you're just looking to cut down on expenses for consumables (food, ninja tools) then Wood Working or Cooking wouldn't be bad, but shiehei is already fairly cheap so I'd scratch WW off the list.

Honestly, just raise cooking (unless you want to craft for money) since that way you'll be able to craft and HQ whatever food and drinks you'll want to have on you.

That is what I do and recommend lol. Cooking is good for juices, and if you take it past 60 then you can make beneficial food as well. When you have a higher HQ rate on recipes, you can sell some and then keep whatever you need for yourself. I wouldn't recommend making your own shihei unless you are taking woodworking to about 80 for 50% HQ rate. Alchemy is pretty good on gil and pretty good on sales as well. When you are able to HQ items that alchemy offers and you get some guild points for Trituration its pretty easy to save crystals on medical items (Antidotes, Echo Drops, etc.). Those are things that you will need when tying to solo BLU spells. That also comes in handy especially when you don't have a mage friend around that can debuff status effects. Making my own antidotes would've came in handy when I was trying to learn Venom Shell but since I was too lazy to go buy the materials i just bought the antidotes instead. Ended up running out of antidotes right after I learned the spell and almost died of poison lmao.

Off Topic: Don't ask why I took 3 crafts past 60, I know I can only take one to 100, but I found it necessary for me to make gil.
