  • Group 2 Merits - Opinions requested

    First off forgive me for not using the proper name for each category as i am at work and don't have access to that information. Since, i'm not 100% sure what each one is called i'll just use what they actually do as an identifier to make things easier.

    Once i cap out +Blue Magic Skill i plan on working on group 2 merits. Only one of the group 1 merits really interests me, physical spell potency, and the in game description is vague enough to convince me to merit that last. For group 2 merits there are three categories that that seem worthwhile: additonal BLU spell points, TP bonus for CA, and the ability to turn a self buff into a group buff. Of these three 5 additional BLU spell points is my first choice and it is unlikely that i will be swayed from this. I love that aspect of the job and having a little bit more room/flexibity in what i set makes me very happy. Originally i was going to use my other BLU group 2 merits to get the ability to group buff. With only a single point it can be used every 20 minutes and by fully upgrading this merit it grants a recast timer of 10 minutes. However, since ive been meriting i started considering getting the TP bonus to CA. Fully meritted this category grants a +50 TP bonus to spells used under the CA effect. Usually i aim for a self skill chain so it would usually mean +50 TP on top of the 10-25 i get inbetween using a WS and a CA'd physical spell. So, i'm not sure how useful that extra 50 tp bonus would be in that case.

    I was wondering if any BLU had opinions about any of these categories or suggestions. If i decide to go with the TP bonus i still might only put 4 points into it so i can at least group buff once every 20 minutes.

    The TP bonus is nice for tacking on a few extra points of damage, I personally would max that. Diffusion is handy to at least unlock, every now and then there's a time when you can Diffusion -> Coccoon to help the party out a tad, but I wouldn't go full tilt on it.

    Otherwise I'd go for the 4 extra Blue Magic points, I personally preferred to use Actnic Burst/Frightful Roar/Self-Destruct for Auto-Refresh, which costs slightly more than Actnic + Plasma Charge, but you get a bit more use out of Roar in addition to extra STR, Assimilation gives you a bit more room to work with.

    Short form: I'd recommend 5 TP bonus, 4 Assimilation, 1 Diffusion.
