I'm having a little bit of trouble playing Blu as a DD. I feel pretty comfortable playing Blu in the healer role, Blu/Sch in Light Arts using Wild Carrot is just sexy as hell. However I don't feel like I'm doing it right when I play as a DD.
It should probably be said that I've played Blu as a DD up through the Jungles, and did healing in the Weapon camp in Sauromuge-whatever (first time fighting them there, awesome experience).
Typically, I try to use a spell that the mob is either weak, or at least neutral against. So for instance Feather Storm/Head Butt vs Mandys and Bludgeon/Head Butt vs Gobs. I normally eat Sushi if I'm meleeing, cookies if I'm healing.
Part of the problem, I don't feel like I'm pulling my weight and dealing enough DD unless I'm casting alot of spells, and while I'm not pulling hate, I'm riding the hate line and quite possibly dealing most of the damage for the party. This makes me run out of mp rather quickly however, but it does make for much shorter fights. If I do more intermittent spell casting, mp lasts longer, but fights also last longer. It's also somewhat easier to get higher chains this way.
Now one thing that'd help is if I used juices to give myself Refresh. Once we're done with CoP and I have inventory space again I plan on doing this, but until then, I can't really do that.
I also figure that my fighting style will change once I hit lvl 40 and get Chain Affinity. It sounds like once I hit that it's best to save the heavy hitting spells like Jet Stream and the like for use with CA.
I do have a question about that though. Is it better to save TP for something like Jet Stream/Death Scissors/Other for use with CA, or is it better to WS > CA+spell for a SC and maybe a self MB?
Next line of questions, support spells. Sand Spin, Sprout Smack, Wild Oats, Chaotic Eye, and any others I haven't mentioned, should these be set and used? I'm slightly concerned with using Sand Spin since it's AoE, although it seems to be a very nice enfeeble. Sprout Smack and Wild Oats are nice to use as well, but can be a little mp intensive to keep up on every mob if you don't have some form of Refresh. I haven't been able to use Chaotic Eye yet, but it seems like it'd be a good spell to set if the party is fighting a spell casting mob, and I'm with the melees.
Also, those spells might be set anyway, I don't have my printoff with the Blu Job Traits with me right now, so I don't know if they are part of a Job Trait that I'd want.
For general subjob usage, what are your opinions on /Dnc? I've been asked a few times to come to parties as /Dnc. I'm not adverse to it, but I'm not sure if it's that usefull just yet, and if it'd be better to sub that on a higher TP gain job like say Mnk or something.
I think there was something else I wanted to ask... But I can't think of it right now.
